The accident took place between Vankota and Sohi villages, a police official said, adding, the identity of the deceased was being ascertained. Health officials in the US and Canada told people Tuesday to stop eating romaine lettuce because of a new E. coli outbreak. The US Food and Drug Administration said it is working with officials in Canada on the outbreak, which has sickened 32 people in 11 states and 18 people in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The strain identified is different than the one linked to romaine earlier this year but appears similar to last year's outbreak linked to leafy greens. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the agency doesn't have enough information to ask suppliers for a recall, but he suggested that supermarkets and restaurants should withdraw romaine until the source of the contamination can be identified. At least five people were killed and nine injured after a car ran over labourers who were sleeping on the pavement of a bridge here in the wee hours on Wednesday.The speeding car going towards Hansi hit the divider of the bridge and ran over the labourers who were sleeping on the pavement.As the car swerved killing the labourers, it hit the safety railings of the bridge and fell off 70 feet down."We were sleeping on the pavement when a car ran over the labourers. At least 10-15 of us were sleeping," said one of the injured. The labourers were natives of Bihar's Khagaria district.The injured have been shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Two passengers were killed and over 30 others injured when they were hit by a bus near Nagla Revti village, police said Wednesday. Some of the passengers of a bus on its way to Farrukhabad from Delhi had got down as the driver was repairing the headlight on Tuesday night when another bus hit them, Station Officer, Jaithara, Chaman Goswami said. While Pradip (20), who was standing along the driver, died on the spot , Arjesh (23) succumbed to injuries later, Goswami said. The injured were admitted to the district hospital. Six persons of a family, including two women and as many children, were Wednesday killed when their car collided with a truck on Manmad--Yeola road in Nashik district of Maharashtra, police said. The car in which the family was travelling was reduced to pulp due to the impact of the collision, a Yeola taluka police station official said. The car was headed towards Yeola, around 85 kms away from here, when the truck rammed into it at Visapur phata (diversion) around 4:30 AM, he said, adding that the accident disrupted vehicular traffic for several hours. A trainer aircraft crashed in an agriculture field in Mokila area near here Wednesday resulting in minor injury to the trainee pilot, police said. The aircraft belonged to the city-based Rajiv Gandhi Aviation Academy, they said adding the accident occurred at around 11.30 am. "As per preliminary information, the aircraft crashed due to some technical problem... the trainee pilot is safe," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shamshabad Zone) N Prakash Reddy told PTI.
