Haryana's education department has sanctioned Rs 1.9 crore for upgrading laboratories in the state's 113 government colleges, an official said today. The Haryana government has approved a non-recurring expenditure of Rs 1.9 crore for 2018-19 for upgrading and renovating labs in the state-run colleges, a spokesperson said giving the details. College principals will be able to withdraw this money online through a local treasury he said, adding that the amount will be utilised as per the directions of the director general of higher education.
How would private unaided schools in the national capital implement the 7th Pay Commission recommendations without hiking their fees, the Delhi High Court asked the AAP government today. The query was posed to the Delhi government by a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar while asking it to file a status report on the implementation of the pay panel recommendations in private unaided schools. The court said the government will have to monitor the implementation of the recommendations and should not wait for teachers' complaints to take any action. The Delhi government told the bench that it had issued an order in August last year asking all private unaided schools to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission and added that it has not received any complaint from teachers saying this was not being done. A Delhi-based tech start-up has begun educating people belonging to marginalised sections living in urban areas by using modern technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality. The start-up, VRARMR (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality), has completed its month-long pilot project in Faridabad near here educating those living in slums by using gears such as VR headsets and other tools that gave them immersive experience. "In the pilot project, we told them short moral stories using virtual reality and they expressed immense interest in it. More boys called up the CBSE counselling helpline with stress-related queries during exams than girls, statistics have revealed. The Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) annual outreach programme to help students beat exam stress begins in February every year and provides counselling to students till April. However, students continue calling the helpline even after results are announced and the counselling team tries to address their stress-related queries ranging from break-up issues, the parent-children argument to difficulty in memorising, nervousness and others As per official statistics, the helpline received nearly three times more calls from boys than from girls from February 1 to May 16. The board provided counselling to a total of 3467 callers this year of which only 74 were career related calls. The National Zoological Park will open its gates for school students for a summer training workshop from May 22 to June 5. "The zoo hosts summer training programmes for school students every year. The aim of such an exercise is to educate them about animal protection. A slew of events have been planned for the 15-day programme at the zoo premises," zoo director Renu Singh said. The workshop is being held in collaboration with the National Museum of Natural History. Singh said the students would be taken to field visits and shown documentaries prepared by the Wildlife Institute of India (WWI). "Apart from this, the students will also participate in slogan writing and poster making competitions.
