Delhi govt to provide subsidies to promote e-vehicles, says CM Gupta

Delhi government will provide subsidies to people to promote electric vehicle adoption in Delhi in its new policy, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday. Delivering a valedictory address at Aironomics, 2025 convention, she highlighted Delhi government's different initiatives to combat air pollution. Transformation of all the vehicles, including private ones, into electric vehicles (EVs) is a big vision for which Delhi government is coming up with a new EV policy, she said. "We will urge people to purchase electric vehicles for which they will be provided subsidies," she said. Gupta also said that air pollution is a year long problem that required sustained efforts for which her government is hiring 1000 water sprinklers to be used to combat dust on the roads through out the year. "In view of traffic, these sprinklers will operate in early morning and late night hours so that no congestion is there on the roads," she said. Further, the government is also deploying integrated

Maharashtra unveils new EV policy aiming for 30% adoption by 2030

The new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy of the Maharashtra government seeks to achieve 30 per cent EV penetration in the state by 2030, officials said on Saturday. Among other things, the policy lays down that new residential buildings must provide EV charging facilities, and also offers incentives such as toll waiver for these eco-friendly vehicles. The transport department on Friday issued a government resolution announcing the new policy which will be in effect from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2030. It aims to make Maharashtra a leading hub for EVs in India through incentives, infrastructure expansion and manufacturing support, said an official release. By implementing this policy, the state wants to prevent 325 tonnes of PM 2.5 emissions and 1000 tonnes of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from the transport sector by 2030 as part of the Clean Mobility Transition Model, the GR said. The policy proposes incentives of up to Rs 2 lakh for electric four-wheelers used for transport and R

Hybrid vehicles complementing growth of EVs in India: HSBC report

Hybrid vehicles have complemented the growth of electric vehicle sales in India rather than competing with the latter, according to a report by HSBC Global Research. Reiterating that the Indian automotive landscape will remain a multi-powertrain industry over the medium to long term, HSBC Global Research said hybrids, CNGs, and biofuels are practical medium- to long-term solutions, while the country moves towards eventual electrification. "We think Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicles (SHEVs) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) are not cannibalising each other but, rather, are attracting different sets of customers," the report said. In states where incentives are offered for SHEVs, BEV sales have also seen strong growth, it added. "In FY25, the growth in EV sales was similar to the growth in SHEV sales, despite incentives being offered on SHEVs by Uttar Pradesh, the largest PV-selling state in India. This trend suggests that SHEV adoption is having a positive effect on BEV sales," the
