Like many, actor Adil Hussain is all for the digital boom. He says that while there is a danger that some of the many shows and films online might be provocative, it does not mean a censor board should be set up for the digital space. He feels the government should trust the audience and let them decide what to watch and what to shun.
Geoff Johns exits as DC Entertainment prez and CCO
Geoff Johns is stepping down from his post of DC Entertainment president and Chief Creative Officer. The 45-year-old executive, who went on from writing comics to playing an instrumental role in developing films and TV shows from the franchise is entering into an exclusive writer-producer deal with Warner Bros and DC, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The announcement comes days after Diane Nelson's departure as DC Entertainment's president, Johns immediate superior. Gal Gadot to reunite with Dwayne Johnson for 'Red Notice'
Gal Gadot is all set to reteam with her "Fast and Furious" co-star Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming action comedy "Red Notice". The "Wonder Woman" star will play a sharp and mysterious figure in the art world, while Johnson will essay an Interpol agent tasked with capturing the most-wanted art thief, Variety reported. The film comes from writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber. She has collaborated with Johnson in "Fast Five" and "Fast & Furious 6". This is one of Gadot's first projects after her breakout role as Diana Prince/ Wonder Woman in the Patty Jenkins directorial. She will reprise the role in its sequel next year. The actor may potentially star in a Fidel Castro drama, which she also will produce. "Red Notice" opens in theaters on June 12, 2020.

American activist Jane Fonda will receive this year's Lumiere Award in Lyon, France.The Oscar-winner has been selected for the prize in part for "her willingness to embody fierce independence from a young age [and] for the singular personality that has inspired her to choose powerful, politically-committed female characters," confirmed The Hollywood Reporter.She is also a two-time Academy Award winner, two-time BAFTA Award winner, and four-time Golden Globe Award winner.Festival director Thierry Fremaux will present the Oscar winner with the prize.The largest international festival of classic cinema, the Lumiere Festival will take place from October 13 to October 21.

Ker may reintroduce entertainment tax on other language films
The Kerala government would consider reintroducing entertainment tax on other language films screened in the state, Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac said today. The government would also contemplate implementation of a centralised e-ticketing system in theatres with a view to check tax evasion in the industry, he told the state assembly. Admitting that gross tax evasion was taking place in the industry, he said introduction of e-ticketing system, which has already been put in place in state-run theatres, was one of the means to check it. Responding to the demand of the film industry, the Kerala government had decided to scrap entertainment tax on films last year to avoid possible issues of double taxation in view of the implementation of GST. "The reintroduction of entertainment tax on other language films released in the state is a suggestion that can be considered seriously," Isaac said. He was replying to a calling attention motion, moved by actor-turned MLA, Ganesh .
'Nalini' makers asked to meet Visva-Bharati VC for shooting in
Visva-Bharati authorities today asked the makers of Nalini, a film on the "relationship" between teenaged Rabindranath Tagore and a Marathi girl, to meet the vice-chancellor and members of an experts committee before undertaking any shoot within the university campus. "We have asked the director to meet the members of a university appointed committee, comprising experts, and discuss the story and scenes before he can start shooting within the campus," Acting Vice-Chancellor of Visva Bharati, Sabujkali Sen, said today. When contacted, the film director Ujjwal Chatterjee said he is scheduled to meet Sen on June 27. "I will meet her with all documents, letters and the script. I don't foresee any problem," he said.
