'Love Sonia' to open The Bagri Foundation London Indian Film Festival
Tabez Noorani's "Love Sonia", featuring Richa Chadha, Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, is all set to open the The Bagri London Indian Film Festival 2018. The film, which marks Noorani's directorial debut, will premiere at the festival, considered Europe's largest South Asian film festival. Apple bags rights to Gregory David Roberts' novel 'Shantaram'
Apple has secured the rights of Gregory David Robert's Mumbai-set novel "Shantaram" and will be developing it as a drama series. The 2003 novel, which has been published in 39 languages in 42 territories worldwide and sold six million copies, follows Lin, an escaped convict with a false passport who flees maximum security prison in Australia for the teeming streets of a city where he can disappear. The 'Shantaram' series will be produced by Anonymous Content and Paramount TV, reported Variety. The two companies had earlier this year won the rights to adapt the novel. Oscar nominated scribe Eric Warren Singer will pen the series as well as executive produce it. David Manson will also executive produce along with Nicole Clemens, Steve Golin and Andrea Barron. The mob drama was previously being developed as a feature film, with Johnny Depp producing and Joel Edgerton as the lead. However, the project failed to take off.

Eddie Murphy to star in Netflix's 'Dolemite Is My Name'
Actor Eddie Murphy is producing and starring in the Rudy Ray Moore biopic "Dolemite Is My Name" for Netflix. Craig Brewer is directing the film from a script by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. The production is set to begin on June 12, reported Deadline. The film centers on the life of Moore, who recorded the 'Dolemite' comedy albums in the early 1970s and used the proceeds to finance the 1975 film "Dolemite," in which he starred as a pimp and ghetto hero. Moore also starred as Dolemite in "The Human Tornado," "The Monkey Hustle," and "Petey Wheatstraw: The Devil's Son-in-Law." He died in 2008. John Davis and John Fox are also producing the project.

Famous Indian author Amish Tripathi has announced his new book 'Suheldev & The Battle of Bahraich', the first in a new series called 'Indic Chronicles'. While his fans wait for the third book in his 'Rama Chandra Series', 'Raavan: Son Of Aryavarta', the author confirmed it was "right on schedule" and will launch by the end of this year or early next year.
