Kapil Sharma sends Rs 100-cr defamation notice to journalist
Comedian Kapil Sharma has sent a legal notice to journalist Vicky Lalwani, seeking an unconditional public apology from him within a week and Rs 100 crore in damages for allegedly publishing defamatory articles against him.This comes after weeks of controversial statements and war of words on Twitter between Sharma and Lalwani.Filed by Kapil Sharma's lawyer, Tanveer Nizam, the notice demanded the journalist to give an "unconditional public apology" within seven days of receiving the notice. It also mentioned that comments such as "failed actor" and "celebrity out of control" were disturbing.The notice specifically mentioned that the money would be deposited in National Defence Fund.Earlier, on April 7, Kapil Sharma hurled abuses at the journalist for defaming his reputation.Kapil, who recently made a comeback on the small screen with 'Family Time With Kapil Sharma,' couldn't garner a positive response from the audience. If reports are to be believed, the show would go off air soon.

Dame Helen Mirren and actor Danny DeVito have joined the cast of actress Angelina Jolie's upcoming production venture 'The One and Only Ivan'.Directed by Thea Sharrock, the film is an adaptation of the Newbery Medal-winning book of the same name by Katherine Applegate, reports The Hollywood Reporter.Besides producing, Jolie will also be voicing one of the characters in the movie, which went on floors earlier this week.The story of the book follows a silverback gorilla named Ivan, who lives in a cage in a shopping mall along with an elephant named Stella and a stray dog called Bob. Ivan does not remember life before the mall, but when a baby elephant named Ruby enters and Ivan finds himself taking care of her, he begins to rediscover his previous life and concocts a plan to take the baby elephant to a new home.

Harshvardhan Kapoor 'thrilled' to play superhero on-screen
Actor Harshvardhan Kapoor, who will next be seen in Vikramaditya Motwane-directed "Bhavesh Joshi", says it is a dream come true to play a superhero on screen. "It is a dream come true for any young actor to play a superhero or vigilante. To be in the suit and wear a mask was a dream come true. I wanted to do this film since 2012 and it was an amazing experience working on this," Harshvardhan told reporters at the trailer launch of "Bhavesh Joshi". Cannes Film Fest to see masterclasses by Ryan Coogler, Gary Oldman
"Black Panther" director Ryan Coogler and Oscar winner Gary Oldman are among the four celebrities who will be delivering masterclasses at the Cannes Film Festival this year. The "Rendez-Vous With " section of the festival will focus on British and American cinema, with Coogler being the first speaker on May 10. He will be joined by his frequent collaborator Michael B Jordan, according to a statement by festival organisers. British filmmaker Christopher Nolan was earlier announced for a masterclass at the festival. He will speak on May 12, with French critic Philippe Rouyer moderating. The "Dunkirk" director is slated to present the 70mm print of Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece "2001: A Space Odyssey" at the festival to mark the film's 50th anniversary. Satyajit Ray's director son Sandip Ray today said the shooting of the first film based on senior Ray's popular science fiction character Professor Shonku will begin by the end of this month. Pre-production work of the bi-lingual Shonku film is nearing completion and shooting will begin by the end of this month, Sandip Ray said. He was talking to PTI in between meeting visitors at their iconic 1/1 Bishop Lefroy Road here on senior Ray's 97th birth anniversary. "I am happy that things about this movie have moved in the right direction since Baba's last birth anniversary to this one. Bringing Shonku to cinema would entail lots of logistics, shooting in different parts of the world and having the latest VFX technology at our hand," Sandip Ray said.
