Noted detective novelist" Kottayam Pushpanath, who expanded the world of horror fiction in Malayalam literature, died due to age related ailments here today. He was 80. He is survived by wife and two children. """ Pushpanath breathed his last at his residence here, his family said. Pushpanath, a retired school teacher, wrote over 100 detective and horror novels in Malayalam. Malayalam films were made based on some of his novels. 'Westworld' renewed for third season

Barely a fortnight after its second season premier, "Westworld" has been renewed for a third installment at HBO. According to Variety, Casey Bloys, president of HBO Programming, made the official announcement. "It's been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy ('Westworld' creators), as well as their gifted cast and crew. "From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us," Bloys said. The sci-fi thriller, based on the 1973 Michael Crichton's movie of the same name, is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin. In the second season, which debuted on April 22, the androids have raged a mutiny against their human creators. "Westworld" stars Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Ed Harris, Jimmi Simpson, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, and Tessa Thompson. The airing date of the third season is yet to be revealed.

Jake Gyllenhaal to play composer Leonard Bernstein in 'The American'

Jake Gyllenhaal has been signed on to play legendary conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein in "The American". The movie will be directed by Cary Fukunaga, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project will be based on Humphrey Burton's biography on Bernstein and has been adapted for screenplay by Michael Mitnick. The film will follow the exponential rise of the composer after conducting the New York Philharmonic when he was 25, all the while struggling with fame.
