FIR against five youth for murdering 20-year-old

An FIR has been registered against five unidentified persons for allegedly killing a youth after a video went viral on social networking sites in which they were seen purportedly beating a youth, police said today. The FIR was registered yesterday after Charan Singh of Pitaura village claimed that his son Ajab Singh (20), who went to Delhi for a job, was killed by some persons. He said that he had got a video on WhatsApp in which five persons were beating a youth, who is his son. Taking note of the complaint, an FIR has been registered in the matter, Omkar Singh Yadav, Circle officer said, adding that probe is on to ascertain the identity of the accused and also the victim, shown in the video.

Ashley Judd sues Harvey Weinstein, claims he 'torpedoed' her career

Ashley Judd, one of the first women to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct and harassment, has filed a lawsuit against the former media mogul for trying to sabotage her career. In the suit, Judd has alleged that Weinstein dissuaded director Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh from working with her in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy as she had rebuffed his sexual advances. "My legal complaint. I am suing for economic remedy due to damage done to my career as a result of sexual harassment. Riz Ahmed teaming with BBC for drama series 'Englistan'

"The Night Of" star Riz Ahmed will be starring in BBC's new drama series "Englistan". The nine-part series, created by Ahmed, follows the story of three generations of a British Pakistani family, the Latifs, as they pursue their dreams over four tumultuous decades, navigating shifting circumstances and evolving loyalties. It will re-frame recent British history, and "shine a light on the forces that have made our society what it is today", read a BBC statement. The series will be produced by BBC Studios Drama London and Ahmed's Left Handed Films. The "Star Wars: A Rogue One" actor will also serve as executive producer alongside Esther Springer, Hilary Salmon and Lucy Richer. "I'm excited to be working with (BBC Studios executive producer) Esther Springer and all the team at BBC Studios. "'Englistan' is an untold British story with universal themes and resonance. It's the story I always wanted to tell, and it's a privilege to have the opportunity to do so," the 35-year-old actor said.

Leonardo DiCaprio gets beetle named after him

Hollywood star Leonardo Dicaprio has had a beetle named after him honouring his years of environmental campaigning. The 43-year-old Oscar-winning actor has been a committed campaigner for the environment for many years, creating The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998. The Grouvellinus leonardodicaprioi was discovered at the bottom of a waterfall in Maliau Basin, a remote nature reserve in Borneo island. It was found by Taxon Expeditions, a firm set up to help untrained volunteers discover new species. The expedition was funded by the DiCaprio's foundation. ''Tiny and black, this new beetle may not win an Oscar for charisma, but in biodiversity conservation, every creature counts.'' Dr Iva Njunjic, founder of Taxon Expeditions, said. Other celebrities to have insects names after them include DiCaprio's "Titanic" co-star Kate Winslet, who also has a beetle named after her.

Lupita Nyong'o to play assassin in 'The Killer' remake

"Black Panther" actor Lupita Nyong'o will star in the Hollywood remake of John Woo's 1989 crime classic "The Killer". Woo will direct the remake and will also produce it along with Mark Gordon and Matt Jackson, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The original film, starring Chow Yun-fat, Danny Lee and Sally Yeh, followed assassin Ah Jong, who accidentally damages the eyes of the singer Jennie during a shootout. He later discovers that if Jennie does not undergo an expensive operation she will go blind. To get the money for Jennie, Ah Jong decides to perform one last hit. Nyong'o, 35, will be portraying the role of the assassin in the remake. The script has been penned by Eran Creevy from a draft by Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken.

Jacki Weaver, Betty Gilpin join 'The Grudge' Reimagining

Actors Betty Gilpin and Jacki Weaver have boarded the cast of Sony's "The Grudge" reimagining. Gilpin, 31, and Weavor, 70, join John Cho, Demian Bichir and Andrea Riseborough in the project. Nicolas Pesce is directing the horror film from his own script with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert producing it for Ghost House, reported Deadline. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions recently acquired worldwide rights to the film. The production is set to begin in May. The first film released in 2004, a popular time for Japanese horror film remakes. The original adaptation starred Sarah Michelle Gellar and went on to earn USD 187.3 million worldwide on a USD 10 million budget. The new film will be executive produced by Nathan Kahane and Erin Westerman along with Schuyler Weiss, Roy Lee, Doug Davison, John Middleton, and Andrew Pfeffer.

Cena, 41, will star in the project while Johnson and Dany Garcia are executive producing it through their Seven Bucks Productions. Could not use father's lessons for Bollywood numbers: Asha

Singing legend Asha Bhonsle has said she could not put to use the music lessons she received from her father for her Bollywood numbers. "I have crooned thousands of songs for Hindi films, but what I was taught by my father and what I have been singing in movies are totally different," the Padma Vibhushan recipient said at a programme here yesterday, after volunteering to sing a Marathi classical number composed by her father Deenanath Mangeshkar.
