Kendrick Lamar to produce, curate 'Black Panther' soundtrack

People were already keen for the release of Marvel Studios' 'Black Panther' next month and now, it looks like fans will have one more reason to tune in as the movie is all set to get a soundtrack from Kendrick Lamar.The studio has enlisted Grammy-award winning rapper Kendrick Lamar to curate and produce the soundtrack with Anthony Tiffith, reports the Independent.The confirmation came with the release of lead single 'All the Stars' by Lamar ft. Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman feels actor Rajinikanth means "only good" by advocating "spiritual politics". Announcing his political debut on December 31, the Tamil superstar had promised his fans "spiritual politics, which is free from caste and creed". On Tuesday, Thalaiva clarified that spiritual politics meant "honest and secular politics". "He has spoken about spiritual politics of a secular character. I feel Rajinikanth meant only good," Rahman told reporters here yesterday. Responding to a query on actors entering politics, he said: "They must have felt there is a need for a good leadership." The music maestro said anybody who joins politics should work for fulfilling the needs of the people. Negatives of RK Studios' films to be part of NFAI collection

A rich collection of classics from RK Studios representing the "Golden Era" of Indian Cinema will now be a part of the National Film Archive of India's ever- growing horde of great works. Twenty-three negatives produced under the iconic RK Banner, which enthralled the audiences far and wide -- from Soviet Russia to China to Hollywood -- are being transferred to the NFAI vaults. The haul includes timeless classics like "Awaara", "Shri 420", "Aag", "Barsaat", "Mera Naam Joker", "Sangam", "Dharam Karam", "Ram Teri Ganga Maili", "Bobby", and others, an official release said. "We are thankful to the Kapoor family for entrusting the NFAI with this prestigious collection so that it can be preserved for future generations. The original negative is the ideal format for long term preservation, with the best picture and sound quality," said Prakash Magdum, director of the NFAI. Ridley Scott in talks to direct 'The Merlin Saga' movie

Disney is in negotiation with director Ridley Scott to helm "The Merlin Saga". Oscar-winning screenwriter Philippa Boyens has written the script for the film, which is based on T A Barron's books. The series follows the story of a young Merlin who would go on to become the mentor of the classic literary character King Arthur. Disney is also in talks with Scott's production company Scott Free to produce the project along with Gil Netter, reported Variety. Tendo Nagenda and Foster Driver are overseeing the project for the studio.

Captain Marvel' casts actor DeWanda Wise

Actor DeWanda Wise has joined the cast of Marvel's "Captain Marvel". The "Shes Gotta Have It" actor will play a supporting in the film, which stars Brie Larson in the titular role, reported Variety. Other cast members include Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Jude Law. The film will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directing with Kevin Feige producing. Geneva Robertson-Dworet has written the most recent script, along with Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman, who penned the previous drafts. The plot follows Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident. The resulting alteration imbues her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection and flight. "Captain Marvel" is expected to arrive in theatres on March 8, 2019.

Actor Lakeith Stanfield has joined the cast of film "The Girl in the Spiders Web". After the success of "The Florida Project", actor Brooklynn Prince will next star in horror movie "The Turning". The seven-year-old actor joins Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard in the film, which will be directed by Floria Sigismondi, reported Variety.
