History lied about Vincent Van Gogh, says Willem Dafoe

Actor Willem Dafoe, who plays acclaimed artist Vincent van Gogh in "At Eternity's Gate", says the character came across a more hopeful person, contrary to what has been written about him in the history. The 63-year-old actor portrays the 19th century Dutch Post-Impressionist painter in the Julian Schnabel's feature and like most of the people, he also considered the artist a "tortured soul". "He felt like he was painting in a new way. One of the things that changed for me in making this movie was the joyous part of him that we don't see. He's usually depicted as the poster boy for the tortured artists, but I would definitely say he's a hopeful character. History lies!" he told The Guardian in an interview. The "Florida Project" actor believes flexibility is an essentiality for an artiste to explore different realms of art. "Flexibility is important for an actor. Otherwise, corruption sets in. You get stuck in certain patterns, and a certain kind of performing language that keeps you ..

Govt doesn't want to take Ram's name but wants Ram Mandir: Nihalani

"The government doesn't want Ram's name to be taken in the film but wants a Ram Mandir," said producer Pahlaj Nihalani after he moved the Bombay High Court, challenging Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) suggestion to make 20-odd cuts in his upcoming film 'Rangeela Raja.'Moving the plea, the court on Wednesday asked the tribunal to hear the issue on the already given date of November 23."We are waiting for FCAT's decision which will come out on November 23 and if we agree to their decision, the movie will be released. Or else we have to come back here on November 28. The censor board should be ashamed and shut down for removing Ram's name from the film," said the former censor board chief.Talking about his plea, Nihalini also mentioned how it is unjustified for the film. "All the pain is unjustified. Many people including politicians have talked about Ram Mandir and Ayodhya but they don't want to see it in a film," he added. This comes almost two weeks after the Court's ...

'Rangeela Raja':HC directs FCAT to expeditiously hear Nihalani plea

The Bombay High Court Wednesday directed the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) to expeditiously hear a petition filed by film-maker Pahlaj Nihalani challenging the Censor Board's suggestion to make around "20 cuts" in his upcoming film "Rangeela Raja". Nihalani, a former chief of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), had approached the high court earlier this month claiming that the editing cuts suggested by the body were "illogical" and "meaningless". "There is no vulgarity, no double meaning dialogues (in the film). Still, I've been asked to delete a massive number of dialogues and scenes," he had said in his petition. The vacation bench of the HC had directed Nihalani to approach the FCAT. On Wednesday, Nihalani's counsel Ashok Sarogi informed a bench of Justices BP Dharamadhikari and Sarang Kotwal that the FCAT was scheduled to hear the matter on November 23. He sought the HC's directions to the CBFC to not seek any adjournments while the FCAT hears the ...

"Like, in the case of Mirzapur', (web series) we (female actors) may not have as much screen time as the men but when you watch the show, you will see every person has a good role. Pena, who joined the fourth season of the Netflix show, titled "Narcos: Mexico", as DEA agent Kiki Camarena, did not become a binge watcher until he was approached for the role. "I was excited when Eric (Newman, showrunner) approached me but I had not watched any of it and did not know much about it. After meeting him, I thought 'this sounded really cool' so I watched two episodes and I was blown away. "They did a really good job with the show.
