HarperCollins, Anuradha Roy, Crabtree among Tata Literature Live award winners

Anuradha Roy and James Crabtree are among the winners of this year's Tata Literature Live awards, in which HarperCollins India was named publisher of the year 2018. Veteran journalist and writer Mark Tully won the Lifetime Achievement Award and renowned poet Jayanta Mahapatra was named the poet laureate for 2018. The awards were given on Sunday, the concluding day of the festival. HarperCollins had also won the publisher award in 2016. The judges in their citation said, "The Publisher of the Year Award is awarded to a publisher for both the publishing quality and the quantity of the books that make it to the longlist and the shortlist in the awards - and this year we had a clear and unanimous winner!" On the win, HarperCollins India CEO Ananth Padmanabhan said, "We are delighted. I want to thank all our authors, and the HarperCollins India team especially, for being passionate and particular about how we publish our books." I feel claustrophobic when I listen to my songs, says Arijit Singh

Popular singer Arijit Singh on Tuesday said he feels "claustrophobic" when he listens to his songs. The 31-year-old singer was attending the opening ceremony of 49th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), where his directorial debut "Sa" will be screened. During the event, host of the evening Amit Sadh asked Arijit, the voice behind tracks such as "Tum hi ho", "Phir le aya dil" and "Chahun main ya naa", about how does he generate the intensity to sing such romantic songs. "Is that a question?" Arijiti replied. Amit then asked the singer whether he listens to his own songs to which he said, "I feel claustrophobic when I listen to myself." Actor Preity Zinta Tuesday said she is a "huge supporter" of India's #MeToo movement and would slap any person who tried to harass her, apologising for her remarks on the campaign that has led to the downfall of many in the Indian film industry and outside. Jharkhand selected as 'Focus State' in 49th IFFI: Barnwal

Jharkhand has been selected as the 'Focus State' in the 49th International Film Festival (IFFI) to be held in Goa, a senior state government official said here Tuesday. The IFFI will celebrate November 24 as Jharkhand Day, Information and Public Relations Department secretary, Sunil Kumar Barnwal told a press conference here. "It is a matter of pride. For the first time in this festival a state (Jharkhand) is being included as a focus state," Barnwal said.
