Preity Zinta says if female actors devote as much time as their male counterparts to the film career, it would be possible for heroines to have a longer shelf-life. HC to hear plea against Shah Rukh's film trailer on Nov 30
The Bombay High Court has posted for hearing on November 30 a petition filed against actor Shah Rukh Khan and makers of the film "Zero", claiming that the movie's trailer has hurt sentiments of the Sikh community. Amritpal Singh Khalsa, an advocate, had filed the petition earlier this month, seeking a direction to the film's director and producers to delete the scenes where the lead actor Khan is seen wearing a 'kirpan' (a sword or small dagger carried by Sikhs). The petition also sought a direction to the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) not to grant certification to the movie or to revoke it if it has already been given. Khalsa on Monday mentioned the petition before a division bench of Justices B P Dharmadhikari and S V Kotwal which posted it for hearing on November 30. Short film "Stones & Wounds" uses the premise of stone pelting to tell the story of common people of Kashmir, who are stuck between two different ideologies, says co-director Aditya Raj Somani. Somani, who runs Hera Pheri Films and has co-directed the film with Sachin Malvi, said though the film is just 15-minutes in length, they went through each dialogue and scene meticulously to project the real picture of the conflict-affected state. "The film is not about stone pelting incident or takes any stand on that. Rather it uses stone pelting as a premise to get into the mindset of common Kashmiri people. Veteran film and theatre actor Nafisa Ali revealed she is suffering from peritoneal and ovarian cancer. A day after she came forward with her stage 3 cancer diagnosis, the actor disclosed the type of the illness. Bombay High Court has set November 21 as the date for hearing Pahlaj Nihalani's plea challenging Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) suggestion to make 20-odd cuts in his upcoming production 'Rangeela Raja'.This comes almost two weeks after the Court's vacation bench refused to urgently hear Nihalani's plea against the CBFC regarding his next venture.Nihalani has claimed that the cuts suggested for his film were illogical and meaningless.
