'Charlie's Angels' reboot moves to Nov 2019 slot
Sony is moving the release date of 'Charlie's Angels' reboot to November 1, 2019, to fill the slot which was recently-vacated by 'Wonder Woman 1984'.Sony made the announcement a few hours after Warner Bros. decided to move Gal Gadot's 'Wonder Woman 1984' to June 5, 2020, giving the explanation that the original 'Wonder Woman' opened at the same time last year, reported Variety.Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska will portray the three Angels in the film working for a detective agency. The film will focus on the next generation of Angels working for the mysterious Charlie.Elizabeth Banks is directing as well as starring as their unseen boss, Bosley. Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou will be essaying the other two Bosleys. Khashoggi's killing makes Vue International halt Saudi expansion
In the wake of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi's death, one of Europe's largest cinema operators, Vue International, has stalled its plan to expand in the middle-eastern country.The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that it is the first cinema operator from Europe to do so.The London-based operator in February had signed a deal with Saudi- based entertainment and leisure conglomerate, Abdulmohsin Al Hokair Holding Group; in order to develop 30 "world class multiplex cinemas" within three years.The operator had inked the deal after the Saudi government lifted a 35-year ban on public cinemas.Vue International's Chief Executive and founder, Tim Richards, confirmed that the deal has been delayed; and right now there are no plans to pull out completely.At least 18 people have been detained and several officials have been fired in relation to Khashoggi's killing so far.The journalist went missing on October 02 after cameras captured him walking into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. Canadian rapper Drake, who has been on a tear this year, has broken another Billboard record for most Hot 100 Top 10 songs in a calendar year.He is on number three spot on the list of Top 10 songs, sitting ahead of The Beatles at 34 and Madonna at 38. Karnataka outfit threatens to disrupt Sunny Leone's event
A fringe Kannada outfit Tuesday threatened to disrupt actor Sunny Leone's event on November 3 in protest against her playing the role of "Veeramahadevi" in a multi-lingual film. Kannada Rakshana Vedike President K Harish told reporters here that the forum does not have any objection to Leone performing in the event here, but would oppose her playing the character as Veeramahadevi, a historical icon, who is revered as a goddess figure by the Kannadigas. "It will be inappropriate for Leone to don the role of Veeramahadevi who had championed the cause of Hindus," he said. As many as 108 acclaimed films from over 50 countries will be screened in the second edition of the Guwahati International Film Festival, which will begin on October 25.
