Actor Renee Zellweger has signed on to star in the Netflix's new drama series "What/If". The 10-episode series hails from "Revenge" and "Swingtown" creator Mike Kelley and executive producer Robert Zemeckis, the streaming giant said in a statement. It will explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. Each season of the anthology series will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life. Zellweger,49, will play a character named Ann in the social thriller. Kelley will also serve as an executive producer alongside Melissa Loy, Alex Gartner, Charles Roven and Jack Rapke.

Singer-actor Jennifer Lope has explained her return to romantic-comedy genre with the film "Second Act". In the late '90s and early 2000s, Lopez earned a name for herself after she starred in a string of rom-coms such as "Maid in Manhattan", "The Wedding Planner", "Monster-in-Law" and "Shall We Dance?". During her appearance on the "The Tonight Show", the 49-year-old singer said she wanted to do a rom-com as she needed to have a "romantic look at life". "You need that funny, quirky look at life. That romantic look at life. I think things are tough sometimes and we need that escape," Lopez said. "Second Act", directed Peter Segal, is about a woman who gets a chance to fulfil her career ambitions when a private finance firm is misled into believing that she's an accomplished consultant and hire her to handle a major business deal. The film also features Vanessa Hudgens, Leah Remini and Milo Ventimiglia.
Netflix pulls plug on 'The Break with Michelle Wolf'
Netflix has axed popular talk shows of hosts Michelle Wolf and Joel McHale. Wolf's show "The Break with Michelle Wolf" debuted on the streaming giant's platform on May 27 and had aired 10 episodes till now. The show had been generating a decent amount of buzz for its equally silly and provocative segments on the week's biggest topics. "The Joel McHale Show" was launched in February with 13 weekly installments. The news of its cancellation comes as a surprise as Netflix had ordered six additional episodes last month. A source told Deadline that 'neither show drew enough viewership to secure a renewal.' Wolf, 33, and McHale, 46, earned a name for themselves after they co-hosted "The Daily Show" and "The Soup", respectively. The streaming giant, however, will continue to produce their other talk shows --"Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee" with Jerry Seinfeld and "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction" with David Letterman.

Actor Pierce Brosnan has criticised the recent James Bond films, saying they lacked humour. The 65-year-old actor, who starred as the iconic British spy in four films from 1995 to 2002, said the franchise, now being led by Daniel Craig, stopped having fun as it faced competition from the Bourne action movies, fronted Matt Damon. "I knew there had been a seismic shift (with films like 'The Bourne Identity'), and little did I know I was going to be part of that in the curtain falling on my contract. I knew they had to make adjustments. They had strong competition and they haven't reinvented it, but given it a much more muscular, dynamic twist," Brosnan told Rake magazine. "When I played him (Bond), you have to let the audience in that this is a fantastic joke. What I am doing here, jumping off a motorcycle and catching up a plane, is completely preposterous.
