Bill Clinton is a now a million-selling novelist. "The President is Missing," a thriller co-written with James Patterson, has more than 1 million sales in North America alone. The book's co-publishers, Alfred A. Knopf and Little Brown and Co., announced the sales figures Wednesday. The novel was released June 4 and has topped best-seller lists for weeks. Reviews were mixed, but Barnes & Noble fiction buyer Sessalee Hensley said in a statement that "The President is Missing" had benefited from "very strong" word of mouth. The book's subject has also proved timely: a potentially devastating cyberattack, which intelligence experts have called a leading concern. Clinton, whose previous books include the memoir "My Life," is now the rare author to have million sellers in fiction and nonfiction.

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday asked the state government to explain how outside food can cause a security threat to those visiting multiplexes.The judicature put forth this question after the state government filed an affidavit on Tuesday stating it does not deem it necessary to interfere with the ban on outside food in multiplexes, as it may create "chaos" or "security issues".The Bombay High Court argued, "If you (government) restrain people from carrying their homemade food inside theatres, you are compelling them to eat junk food."The court also observed that people should not be violent on the issue of taking outside food inside the theatres when the matter is still to be decided by High Court.The court will conduct the next hearing of the matter on September 3.Earlier, the state government had announced in the monsoon session of the state assembly in Nagpur that it will allow cinema-goers to carry their homemade food inside theatres from August 1. The Delhi High Court sought today the AAP government's stand on a public interest litigation seeking framing of guidelines allowing movie-goers to carry their own eatables and beverages inside theatres. A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar issued notice to the Delhi government, police and the Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India, seeking their reply to the plea which said that theatres in the city charge exorbitant rates for food and drink they serve to customers. The plea was moved by a lawyer, Ekta Singh, who alleged that she was not permitted to carry her own eatables and water bottle inside a movie theatre at Jangpura here. She has alleged that the food and drink that was available inside the theatre were over-priced.
