Seher Atwal grabs maiden pro win in 4th leg of Hero WPG Tour

Seher Atwal finally cherished her maiden professional win as she overcame three bogeys on the front nine to claim the fourth leg of the Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour, here on Friday. Niece of Indian golf legend Arjun Atwal, 22-year old Seher, who started the day with a two-shot lead, shot a final round of 2-over 73 but still emerged a three-shot winner over Vani Kapoor (74) and Hitaashee Bakshi (75) at the Poona Club Golf Course. On a somewhat chilly and windy day at the Poona Club Golf Course, there were no sub-par rounds and only three players shot even par 71. For Vani, this was her best result since tying for second in the sixth leg before Covid hit last year. Hitaashee won the last event of 2020 and was runner-up in the second leg this year, indicating good progress. Leader on the Hero Order of Merit Amandeep Drall, tied-second overnight, was unable to find any birdies in her round of 76 and slipped to Tied-4th alongside amateur Sneha Singh (73) and Jahanvi Bakshi (74). PGA Tour player Cameron Champ says he never had coronavirus infection

Cameron Champ lathered up his hands with sanitizer as he made the turn in the Rocket Mortgage Classic, trying to stay healthy enough to keep competing. I use it as much as I see it out there," he said after shooting a 3-under 69, putting him four shots back after the opening round. Champ was added to the field at the Detroit Golf Club under a modified PGA Tour policy that allows players who test positive for the coronavirus to be eligible if they had no symptoms and get two negative test results at least 24 hours apart. Champ, however, said he does not believe he ever had COVID-19. Through the specialist that we worked with, at this point it's clear that I never had it," he said. Still being precautious because if I happen to do get it, then it affects my family deeply." The decision to let Champ play on the eve of the tournament was the latest change to an evolving Health and Safety Plan as the tour enters its fourth week back from the pandemic-induced shutdown.
