Curfew imposed in violence-hit Nuh district: Haryana Home Minister

Authorities on Tuesday imposed a curfew in Haryana's Nuh district where two home guards were killed and several injured following violence that erupted over an attempt to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession. Curfew has been clamped on Nuh district, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said on Tuesday. The situation in Nuh continues to be tense. However, there were no reports of any fresh violence on Tuesday. Security has been beefed up in Nuh and other areas, officials said. Two home guards were killed and many others, including several policemen, were injured on Monday as a mob tried to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession, pelting stones and setting cars on fire. Man killed in attack on Gurugram mosque, third death in Haryana violence

A 26-year-old man was killed and a mosque set ablaze in the Sector 57 area as the violence that erupted over an attempt to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession in neighbouring Nuh district spread to Gurugram, police here said. The mob opened fire in which two persons were injured. One of them died during treatment, they said. The victim has been identified as Saad, a native of Bihar, a senior officer said. This is the third death in wake of the "intense communal tension" that spread from Nuh. According to the police, the mob reached the Anjuman Masjid in Sector 57 after midnight. Some people in the crowd opened fire at the people present in the mosque and also set it on fire. Haryana govt seeks 20 RAF companies to maintain law and order in Nuh

Haryana government has sought 20 companies of the Rapid Action Force from the Centre for a week to maintain the law and order situation in Nuh district. In a communication to the Union home secretary, Haryana's Additional Chief Secretary (Home), T V S N Prasad, sought 20 companies of the RAF "urgently" for one week from July 31. "I am directed to address you on the subject (seeking 20 companies of RAF)... incidents causing intense communal tension, annoyance, obstruction and injury to persons, danger to human life and property, disturbance to public peace and tranquility in district Nuh have occurred on account of violent protests by agitators, protesters, miscreants and anti-social elements," wrote Prasad. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav said that four small forests (mini Amazons) will be developed using Miyawaki technique to promote greenery at all four points of cloverleaf located on NH-48 here. With the commencement of the Dwarka expressway, the connectivity between Gurugram and Delhi's IGI Airport will be improved, as well as the project will have tunnels, underpasses, flyovers and flyovers over flyovers, he said while inspecting the Expressway here on Saturday. The construction of the Dwarka Expressway has reached the final stage to connect Mahipalpur in the national capital Delhi with Khedki Daula located on NH 48 in Gurugram. Delhi Gym Association issues advisory after man using treadmill dies

A Delhi-based gym owners' association on Thursday advised its members to ensure that there are no loose wires at their establishments after a 24-year-old man died of electrocution while using a treadmill at a fitness centre here. Saksham Purthi, an MNC employee in Gurugarm, was electrocuted while using a treadmill at Gymplex Fitness Zone in Rohini Sector 15, police said on Thursday. The incident occurred on Tuesday, they said, adding that the gym owner has been apprehended. According to the advisory issued by the Delhi Gym Association, members have been instructed to "get the earthing connection at their gyms checked immediately". They have been advised to ensure that no loose wires are hanging around the area where people exercise, it stated. All electrical points should be checked by electricians and other necessary measures need to be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. DLF awards Rs 369 cr contract to B L Kashyap in Gurugram housing project

Realty firm DLF has awarded Rs 369 crore contract to construction firm B L Kashyap in its luxury housing project at Gurugram, Haryana. In a regulatory filing, B L Kashyap and Sons Ltd informed that it has secured new order aggregating to about Rs 369 crore from DLF Home Developers Ltd, which is a subsidiary of DLF Ltd. The nature of contract is civil structure and waterproofing works for 'DLF The Arbour' housing project in Sector 63, Gurugram. The contract is to be executed within the next 33 months. B L Kashyap said its total order book as on date stands at Rs 3,086 crore (excluding GST till date). In March, DLF had said it would invest around Rs 3,500 crore over the next four years to construct this project, which is spread over 25 acre and comprises 5 towers with a total of 1,137 premium apartments. DLF, the country's largest real estate firm in terms of market cap, sold all 1,137 units, each costing Rs 7 crore and above, for over Rs 8,000 crore within 3 days (February 15-17).

All schools in Delhi and its adjoining NCR cities of Gurugram and Noida will be closed on Monday in view of torrential rains in the region, according to officials. Most parts of north and northwest India, including the national capital region, received torrential rains from Saturday, leading to waterlogging, flash floods, house collapses and human fatalities. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said a notice has been sent to the head of schools in the city, saying that all government and private schools will remain closed for students on Monday. However, teachers have been directed to go to schools as usual. Ingka Centre to open its first India retail centre in Gurugram in 2025

Ingka Centres, part of Ikea's retail operator Ingka Group, on Wednesday said it would open its first retail centre in India in late 2025. The centre named 'Lykli' will be opened in Gurugram, Haryana. The company is investing 400 million euros (around Rs 3,500 crore) in the Gurugram project. It is also planning a similar centre in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Gurugram water supply project to be completed by May 2026: CM Khattar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said the Gurugram water supply project will be completed by May 2026 and provide uninterrupted drinking water supply to the city and Manesar, according to an official statement. The Mewat feeder pipeline project has also been prepared and both these projects will cost about Rs 2,267 crore, the chief minister said while chairing a meeting on remodelling of Gurugram water supply with Irrigation and Water Resources Department officials.
