Gurugram-Nuh violence: Authorities assure migrant workers of safety

In a bid to stop the exodus of migrant workers from the city, district authorities Saturday visited a few slum areas and urged the labourers to go for their daily work without any fear. Number of workers started fleeing to their native places in different states in view of violence that flared up here and in Nuh earlier in the week. Gurgugram Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav Saturday visited the slums near Sector 58 and 70 here as part of the ongoing exercise to build confidence among common people about their safety, along with maintaining law and order. "The situation here is peaceful now and there is no need to panic," Yadav said. He urged the slum residents to go about their daily activities without any fear and assured them of their safety. Demolition in Nuh continues, illegal structures on 2.6 acres of land razed

The demolition drive in violence-hit Nuh district of Haryana continued for the third day on Saturday as authorities bulldozed illegal constructions on 2.6 acres of land around Nalhar Medical College in the state. Around 15 other temporary structures were also demolished as part of the drive, police said. These were illegal constructions. Notices were already given to owners of the demolished structures. The owners of some illegal structures were also involved in the violence during the Braj Mandal religious yatra. The demolition drive will continue," Sub Divisional Magistrate Ashwani Kumar said. A police official said the demolition drive began from Adbar Chowk and will continue till Tiranga Chowk. Haryana violence: 3 motorcycles set on fire in Pataudi area, says police

Three motorcycles were set on fire on Thursday night in Pataudi area here, police said. The motorcycles were parked outside Rashid Auto Works near Chungi no. 4 while a mechanic was sleeping inside the shop. Firefighters doused the flames and rescued the mechanic, police said. Sporadic incidents of arson have been reported from Pataudi since Monday after violence broke out in the adjoining Nuh district over an attempt to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession. Six people, including two home guards and a cleric, have died in the clashes that spread to Gurugram and other districts of the state over the past few days. Haryana's Home Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday said social media has played a significant role in fuelling the violence in Nuh and the state government has formed a three-member committee tasked with monitoring social media activities from July 21 onwards. Realty firm Godrej Properties on Wednesday said its board has approved Rs 155 crore for repair work in its completed housing project 'Godrej Summit' at Gurugram, in Haryana after chloride was found in concretes used in the buildings. Godrej Properties also announced an offer to buy-back flats or provide rentals to all the unit holders of the project. In February last year, a partial collapse of a residential tower in Chintels Paradiso project in Gurugram led to the death of two women. Delhi Police enhances vigil, on alert post communal clashes in Gurugram

The Delhi Police enhanced patrolling in the national capital on Tuesday after an alert was sounded following communal clashes in Gurugram and adjoining areas in Haryana, officials said. A senior police officer said the Delhi Police keeps a tab on the incidents in neighbouring states as well as other parts of the country that may have impact on the national capital. In fresh violence, eatery set on fire in Gurugram, shops vandalised

A mob set fire to an eatery and vandalised adjoining shops in Gurugram's Badshahpur on Tuesday afternoon, in a fresh case of communal violence after the previous day's attack on a VHP procession in adjoining Nuh district. A fire brigade team reached the spot and controlled the blaze, police said. The mob ransacked some shops belonging to a particular community and also chanted "Jai Shri Ram" in front of a mosque in Badshahpur. The Badshahpur market was also shut down, police said. After getting information about the fresh violence, police reached the spot but the rioters managed to flee on their bikes and other vehicles by then, officials said, adding some suspects have been detained. Man killed in attack on Gurugram mosque, third death in Haryana violence

A 26-year-old man was killed and a mosque set ablaze in the Sector 57 area as the violence that erupted over an attempt to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession in neighbouring Nuh district spread to Gurugram, police here said. The mob opened fire in which two persons were injured. One of them died during treatment, they said. The victim has been identified as Saad, a native of Bihar, a senior officer said. Haryana govt seeks 20 RAF companies to maintain law and order in Nuh

Haryana government has sought 20 companies of the Rapid Action Force from the Centre for a week to maintain the law and order situation in Nuh district.
