While having a positive attitude in life has it's owns benefits, a latest research by Israeli scientists claimed that positive emotions can also be helpful in fighting cancer.A study titled "Modulation of anti-tumor immunity by the brain's reward system" was published in the Friday's issue of science journal 'Nature' in which scientist of Israel Institute of Technology claimed there was a deep connection between the patient's mental state and cancer survival. The study was conducted on mice exploring the role of the brain's reward system in fighting tumors."Given the central role of the reward system in positive emotions, these findings introduce a physiological mechanism whereby the patient's psychological state can impact anti-tumor immunity and cancer progression," the study said.According to the study, some immune cell subsets like Myeloid Derived Suppressor Cells (MDSCs), support tumor growth by suppressing the anti-tumor immune response and by generating a favorable environment

Mamata Tripathi, a researcher from Raipur, has claimed that N-aryl Hydroxamic Acid can be helpful in curing cancer.Speaking to ANI, Mamata said: "This can kill 70-80 per cent of cancer cells. We had done a lab test which was successful. Next step is to test on small living being like mice. This research took 4.5 -5 years."According to Tripathi if the research moves in the right direction then it can be an alternative to the painful chemotherapy being used currently to treat cancer. She added the metal complex of N-aryl hydroxamic acid are helpful on the breast cancer cell line."It is at an initial stage so cannot say right now if this will be an alternative to chemotherapy. But, if our research moves in the right direction then this can be a positive option. Also, it will be much less painful than chemotherapy," she said."Drugs presently available in the market are very expensive. The primary lab test that we are conducting is also costly, but once we get into the phase of producing ..

A study has found that a class of molecules formed when the body metabolizes omega-3 fatty acids could inhibit the spreading and growth of cancer. In a recent study conducted at the University of Illinois, researchers have found that in mices, the molecules called endocannabinoids, are made naturally by the body and have similar properties to cannabinoids found in marijuana - but without the psychotropic effects. In mice with tumors of osteosarcoma - a bone cancer that is notoriously painful and difficult to treat - endocannabinoids slowed the growth of tumors and blood vessels, inhibited the cancer cells from migrating and caused cancer cell death."We have a built-in endocannabinoid system which is anti-inflammatory and pain-reducing. Now we see it is also anti-cancer, stopping the cells from proliferating or migrating," said a researcher Aditi Das."These molecules could address multiple problems: cancer, inflammation and pain," she added. In 2017, the Illinois team identified a new ...

According to a recent study, deaths from cardiovascular disease are rising in India.Led by Dr. Prabhat Jha, the research found that rates of dying from ischaemic heart disease - cardiac issues caused by a narrowing of the heart's arteries - in populations aged 30 to 69 increased rapidly in rural areas of India and surpassed those in urban areas between the year 2000 and 2015.In contrast, the probability of dying from stroke decreased overall, but increased in India's northeastern states, where a third of premature stroke deaths occurred and only one sixth of the population lives. In these states, deaths due to stroke were about three times higher than the national average."The finding that cardiac disease rose nationally in India and that stroke rose in some states was surprising," said Dr. Jha. "This study also unearthed an important fact for prevention of death due to cardiovascular disease. Most deaths were among people with a previously known cardiac disease, and at least half ...
