Unburied fetuses, other bodies found in second funeral home

About 36 fetuses and infants have been removed from a Detroit funeral home, the second facility where remains have been improperly disposed. Detroit police raided Perry Funeral Home on Friday and found the remains. Jason Moon of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs says the remains were found in three unrefrigerated boxes. Also, additional remains were found in a deep freezer. Some of the bodies had dates of death in 2015. Perry Funeral Home is the second such facility in Detroit where fetuses have been found. Several cremated remains were found by cleaning crews at the former Cantrell Funeral Home where mummified remains of 10 fetuses were discovered last week in a ceiling. Police Chief James Craig says law enforcement agencies are considering forming a task force to investigate the issue, specifically targeting improper storage of remains and fraud.

Two members of Mysuru royal family die on final day of Dasara

The Mysuru royal family suffered a double blow Friday marring Dasara festivities when Putta Chikkammani (98), mother of Rajamata Pramoda Devi, and Vishalakshi Devi, sister of late Maharaja Srikantadatta Wadiyar, died in hospital. The royal family has announced postponing rituals associated with the Dasara festival to October 22, Raja Chandra, brother-in-law of the late Maharaja, said. He said Pramoda Devis mother died in the morning while sister-in-law Princess Vishalakshi Devi, youngest daughter of late Maharaja of Mysuru Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar, died in the evening. He said Chikkammani died in a private hospital here due to age related complications. Curtains come down on Mysuru Dasara festivites

The world renowned 10-day long Mysuru Dasara festivities came to an end Friday with a colourful procession here. Tens of thousands of people witnessed the "Jamboo Sawari, a march of a dozen caparisoned elephants led by Arjuna carrying the idol of the Mysuru royal family's Goddess Chamundeshwari on the 750 kg golden 'howdah' (casket). However, in view of a death in the Mysuru royal family, many Dasara rituals associted with its members were postponed to October 22. The government-organised events, celebrated as naada habba (State festival), were held as scheduled, showcasing Karnatakas cultural heritage. Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy flagged off the finale of Dasara festivities by offering special prayers to the idol of Chamundeshwari. Kumaraswamys father and former prime minister H D Devegowda and his wife Channamma also were present so as ministers and the MLAs. World record holder Jepkosgei ready for Dibaba challenge for Delhi Half Marathon

She missed out competing in India last year after her world record feat but Kenya's Joyciline Jepkosgei is all geared up to scorch the roads of the national capital when she runs in Sunday's Airtel Delhi Half Marathon. Jepkosgei is the current women's half marathon world record holder with a timing of 1 minute 04.51 seconds, which she clocked while winning in Valencia (Spain) on October 22 last year. She had planned to run in the 2017 Delhi Half Marathon, which was held on November 19 but later dropped as she had less than a month's recovery time after the world record feat in Valencia. "Last year, I had planned to run in Delhi but it was held less than one month after Valencia. The recovery time was very less and so I dropped the idea. But this time I am here and I am excited to give my best on Sunday," Jepkosgei told PTI at the sidelines of elite athletes unveiling event. "I love India and people are very nice. #MeToo: Celebrity manager rescued before suicide attempt

Navi Mumbai Police rescued Anirban Blah, who is the co-founder of celebrity management firm Kwan Entertainment and has been accused by some women in the #MeToo movement, before he could allegedly attempt suicide by jumping off a bridge, police said Friday. On Tuesday, Blah was asked to "step aside" by the firm, which handles the work of several top Bollywood stars, after he was accused of sexual harassment by four women. Senior Inspector Anil Deshmukh of Vashi police station said traffic cops spotted Blah on the old Vashi creek bridge at around 11:30 pm on Thursday. Having received a tip off, police moved in and detained him before he could do anything, Deshmukh said. A team of the Vashi traffic police, led by senior inspector Satish Gaikwad, then brought Blah to the Vashi police station, he said. His relatives and friends were called to the police station and Blah was allowed to leave around 2 am on Friday after he was counselled, he said.

Country's first-ever park for dogs opened in Hyderabad

: An exclusive and certified 'Dog Park', billed as the countrys first and boasting of facilities including a walking track, off leash areas and a clinic was inaugurated at Kondapur here. Spread across an area of 1.2 acres, the park was inaugurated by Telangana chief secretary SK Joshi, an official press release said Friday. The Rs one crore park provides a healthy and safe open environment for the pets, principal secretary tomunicipal administration Arvind Kumar said on his twitter account. A veterinarian and a trainer would be deployed at the park and vaccination would be administered to the pets free of cost, zonal commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Harichandana Dasari had said. It also has dog training and exercise equipment, splash pool, two lawns, an amphitheatre, loo cafe, separate enclosures for big and small dogs among other facilities. The location of the facility, certified by the Kennel Club of India, was earlier a garbage dump.

Country's first dog park now open in Hyderabad

Dog lovers have a reason to rejoice with the first park for canines being inaugurated in the city of Hyderabad.Spread over 1.2 acres in Hyderabad's Kondapur area, the park has been developed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at cost of Rs. 1.1 crore and was thrown open for public on Thursday.Pet lovers will have to shell out a meagre sum of Rs.10 to enter that park, which authorities say has been built with international standards."It is India's first certified dog park built with international standards.
