Irom Sharmila, civil rightsactivist from Manipur, gave birth to twin baby girls at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Sunday. Doctors at Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, where Sharmila gave birth on Mother's day, said the babies and the mother were in good health. "It was a C-section (Caesarean) because there were twin babies...Children are very cute and are in good health," Dr Sripada Vinekar told PTI. Two Rhode Island police officers are being praised for their quick actions that saved the life of a choking baby. Warwick Police Officers Brian Holleran and Anthony D'Abrosca were responding to another call in the Kohl's parking lot on Friday when they heard a woman calling for help. Police say the two officers rushed into the store and saw that the 16-month-old baby was choking. Holleran tells WJAR that he gave her a couple blows to the back and performed CPR. After the officer's actions, the baby was able to breathe again. Police say the baby was taken to the hospital and has made a full recovery. The baby's foster mother, Elaine Martinez, tells the TV station she thanks God the officers were there at that moment.

Padma Shri awardee Bhojpuri folk singer Hiralal Yadav died on Sunday at the age of 93. The veteran musician passed away after prolonged illness at his residence here in Chowkaghat. Yadav, who was famously known as 'Birha Samrat', was undergoing treatment at a city hospital and was discharged on Saturday. He took his last breath this morning, said a family member. Yadav was felicitated with Padma Shri award this year in the month of January, and was also honoured with Yash Bharti award by the Uttar Pradesh government in 2015.
