French firm CYGR, RRP Defence to launch $50 mn drone plant in Navi Mumbai

RRP Defence on Saturday announced that it has partnered with French firm CYGR to set up a drone manufacturing facility in India at an initial investment of around USD 50 million (around Rs 430 crore). This partnership aims to deliver advanced drone systems designed for tactical, surveillance, and industrial use, leveraging French-American technology and Indian manufacturing capability, the RRP group company said in a statement. The two companies are expected to invest USD 50 million initially in the facility, which will be scaled up to USD 100 million later, RRP Defence Chairman Rajendra Chodankar said. The facility, to be located in Navi Mumbai, will support the production of next-generation drones, including nano drones, ISR drones, and hand-launched fixed-wing drones. Madhya Pradesh, France sign PoU to boost cultural, tourism ties for 3 years

A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Madhya Pradesh, France and a French language institute here on Friday to strengthen long-term cooperation in the field of culture and tourism. This will make Madhya Pradesh a new centre of cultural and tourism cooperation between India and France, an official said. India-France joint military exercise to be held from June 18 to July 1

A joint exercise between the militaries of India and France is scheduled to be held from June 18 to July 1, aiming to enhance the joint military capability of both sides to undertake multi-domain operations, the Indian Army said on Thursday. Exercise Shakti 2025 will be held at La Cavalerie in France. "The 8th edition of Exercise #Shakti, a joint military exercise between #India and #France is scheduled from 18 June to 01 July 2025 at #LaCavalerie, #France," the Indian Army said in a post on X. "The aim of the exercise is to enhance joint military capability of both sides to undertake Multi Domain Operations in a Sub Conventional scenario," it said. The joint exercise will facilitate developing interoperability, bonhomie and camaraderie between armies of both the nations, the officials said.

Indian, French Navies conclude 23rd Varuna Exercise with fleet review

The 23rd edition of bilateral exercise Varuna between Indian and French navies culminated on Saturday, following which French Aircraft Carrier Charles de Gaulle and INS Vikrant did a fleet review some 80 nautical miles off the Goa coast. MMRDA denies graft charges, accuses Systra of misrepresenting facts

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Tuesday accused French consultancy firm Systra of "misrepresenting facts" to the French government after receiving suspension and termination of contract notices, calling it "an attempt to deflect attention from contractual breaches". In a late-evening statement, MMRDA, a state planning and development agency, dismissed media reports about corruption allegations levelled by Systra as "biased and unverified." Systra had never submitted any formal representation to relevant authorities, including the chief minister of Maharashtra, before the notices were issued, it claimed. "Notably, no such allegations were ever raised before any official forum prior to these notices," MMRDA stated, adding that the allegations of graft were made only after MMRDA issued suspension and termination notices. "This clearly indicates that the allegations are an afterthought aimed at deflecting attention from their own contractual breaches," .
