US elections: New Iowa poll shows Harris leading over Trump in race

Vice President Kamala Harris is leading 47 percent to 44 percent over former President Donald Trump among likely voters in Iowa, a new poll showed two days ahead of the high-stakes election for the White House. Trump was quick to reject the poll as "fake". "One of my enemies just puts out a poll -- I am 3 down. (Iowa Senator) Joni Ernst called me, everyone's called me, they said you are killing in Iowa. The farmers love me and I love them," he said at a rally in key battleground state of Pennsylvania. Trump said that the poll released Saturday was "fake". "I'm not down in Iowa," he asserted. The poll by Des Moines Register newspaper came even as both Trump and Harris criss-crossed key battleground states to make their closing remarks ahead of the November 5 national election day. Acording to the poll, Harris is leading in the race in view of support from women and independent voters. More than 75 million Americans have already cast their votes as of Sunday, according to the Unive

I see a nation determined to turn page on hatred, and division: Harris

Winding down her election campaign Sunday, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris said that during her travel across the nation she could see people determined to turn the page on hatred and division, and chart a new way forward. "Here is what feeds my spirit as I travel across our beautiful nation from state to state and from church to church. I see faith in action in remarkable ways. I see a nation determined to turn the page on hatred and division and chart a new way forward," Harris said in her speech at a church in Detroit, Michigan, a battleground state. She said that during her campaign, she found that Americans from the so-called red states and the so-called blue states are ready to bend the arc of history toward justice. "I see an incredible number of our young people, our young leaders. Oh! It would inspire you to see how they are organizing for change. What I love about that generation, they are quite impatient in a most wonderful way. As I travel our nation, I s

US Election: Millions of citizens cast their votes ahead of polling day

The 42 Broadway in New York is an important address in this election season in the US. This is the office of the Board of Elections. Michael Ryan, executive director, and his deputy Vincent Ignizio are upbeat about the figures that the early voting has drawn for the city. On the first day, about 140,000 votes were cast in the early voting. We don't want to pat ourselves on the back but we are upbeat about this. New York has already created a record in early voting and it is still on, says Ryan. Across the United States, tens of millions of voters have already cast their ballots. According to the data from the University of Florida's Election Lab tracker, more than 68 million Americans have already voted. Across the nation, voters are taking advantage of the flexibility offered by early voting options, whether through mail-in ballots or in-person polling sites. This trend allows voters to avoid potential issues such as inclement weather, long queues, or unforeseen scheduling confli

Kamala Harris appears on Sat Night Live as 'mirror image of Maya Rudolph'

Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live in the final days before the election, playing herself as the mirror-image double of Maya Rudolph's version of her in the show's cold open. The first lines the candidate spoke as she sat across from Rudolph, their outfits identical, was drowned out by cheers from the audience. It is nice to see you Kamala, Harris told Rudolph with a broad grin she kept throughout the sketch. And I'm just here to remind you, you got this. In sync, the two said supporters need to Keep Kamala and carry-on-ala, declared that they share each other's belief in the promise of America, and delivered the signature Live from New York it's Saturday night! India-US ties most important globally for future: Democratic leader Makhija

The India-US partnership is the most important engagement globally and the cooperation will flourish further if Kamala Harris becomes the US president as she recognises the significance of the relationship, prominent Indian-origin Democratic leader Neil Makhija has said. In an exclusive interview with PTI, the young leader, considered to be close to Harris, also came down very hard on former president Donald Trump for his immigration policy that has triggered some concerns among immigrant communities in the US, including Indian-Americans. On the India-US partnership, Makhija said it is the most important relationship for the future. "When you think about the competition the US has been having with China, when you think about the actions that Russia is taking which are at odds with the interests of the US and its allies, India is really the most important country for the US to continue to build the relationship in terms of its sheer size, economic activities," he said. Joe Biden suggests he'd like to smack 'macho guys' during final campaign

President Joe Biden returned to his birthplace in Pennsylvania, making a final campaign stop Saturday for Vice President Kamala Harris and again let loose offering the kind of unfiltered political sentiments that have become fairly common in recent weeks. Biden slammed Harris' rival, former Republican President Donald Trump, and his supporters on policy issues during a speech in Scranton, but then suggested that he'd hit back literally on faux macho guys. There's one more thing Trump and his Republican friends want to do. They want to have a giant tax cut for the wealthy, Biden told the local chapter of the carpenters union. Then, apparently referencing people backing Trump, he added, Now, I know some of you guys are tempted to think it's macho guys. I tell you what, man, when I was in Scranton, we used to have a little trouble going down the plot once in a while," Biden continued. These are the kind of guys you'd like to smack in the ass. During a rally later Saturday night in

Shift in democratic Indo-Americans, Muslim voters in Michigan towards Trump

A section of Indian-Americans, Muslims, and African-Americans in the battleground state of Michigan, who traditionally supported Democratic candidates in previous elections, have shifted their support towards Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump a move that could significantly impact the results of the November 5 US election. Michigan is one of the seven battleground states in the 2024 elections with a razor-thin margin of victory expected. As the auto capital of the world, Detroit drives Michigan's economy, generating numerous jobs in the manufacturing sector, particularly in the automotive industry. The state's strong working-class presence and robust labour unions add to its significance in the electoral landscape. Michigan stands out for its diverse demographics like New York in the East Coast and California in the West Coast. The state boasts of a significant Muslim population and several Congressional districts predominantly represented by African Americans. Detroit, i

Will end economic disaster of Kamala Harris, launch new miracle: Trump

Describing the economic policies of Vice President Kamala Harris as a disaster, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday said he would launch a brand new economic miracle after he wins the elections. Trump promised to build American, buy American, and hire American. "We will end Kamala's economic disaster and launch a brand-new Trump economic miracle," Trump said at a campaign rally in Detroit, Michigan, a battleground State where he is slated to hold his last rally on Monday night. He said Harris' failed economic agenda wiped out nearly 30,000 private sector jobs just recently, and nearly 50,000 manufacturing jobs just over the last short period of time. "You lost 50,000 manufacturing jobs." Trump alleged that under Harris' "nation-wrecking policies, the American worker is absolutely drowning. You're drowning". "Kamala is a radical left Marxist, rated even worse than crazy Bernie Sanders and Pocahontas herself. She destroyed our economy. She was an original creato

Trump pits Americans against one another, US deserves better: Kamala Harris

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump pits Americans against one another, his Democratic rival and Vice President Kamala Harris alleged Friday and asserted her pledge to pursue common sense solutions and to be a president for all Americans. "America deserves better than what Donald Trump is offering. America deserves a president who understands our role and responsibility to our people and to the rest of the world to be a model," she said. Campaigning in the presidential elections entered the last few days with both Harris and Trump making closing arguments before voters in the key swing states. "As you have heard me say many a times, my pledge to the American people is to pursue common sense solutions, to listen to those, even those who disagree with me, to listen to experts, and to be a president for all Americans, Harris told reporters in Wisconsin. "Donald Trump's closing argument is very different. He pits Americans against one another. He spends full time having ...

Trump, Harris host rallies in Milwaukee in final push to win Wisconsin

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will host rallies within 7 miles of each other Friday night in the Milwaukee area as part of a fevered final push for votes in swing-state Wisconsin's largest county. Milwaukee is home to the most Democratic votes in Wisconsin, but its conservative suburbs are where most Republicans live and are a critical area for Trump as he tries to reclaim the state he narrowly won in 2016 and lost in 2020. One reason for his defeat was a drop in support in those Milwaukee suburbs and an increase in Democratic votes in the city. Both candidates recognize that the road to the White House runs directly through Milwaukee County, said Hilario Deleon, chair of the county's Republican Party. The dueling rallies Trump is in downtown Milwaukee and Harris is in a suburb may be the candidates' last appearances in Wisconsin before Election Day. Both sides say the race is once again razor tight for the state's 10 electoral votes. Four of the .

US Vice Presidential hopeful Tim Walz attended a Diwali celebration at a prominent Hindu temple in Pennsylvania, reaching out to the Indian-Americans in the crucial battleground state as the race for White House heads towards a photo-finish. In his brief remarks at the event in the Bharatiya temple in Montgomery county on Thursday, the Democratic leader highlighted the "rising" political voice of the Indian-American community in the US and urged them to save energy to "celebrate" Kamala Harris's "victory" in the presidential election next week. "Happy Diwali everyone. It is a privilege for me to be with you on this special day," he said.
