The Haryana government has declared a paid holiday tomorrow for its employees, who are registered voters in western Uttar Pradesh's Kairana, where Lok Sabha bye-election will be held tomorrow. The BJP dispensation in the state has granted casual leave (paid) to all such employees working in government offices, educational institutes, boards and corporations, according to an official statement. The decision was taken in accordance with section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, it said.

Maharashtra has seen the creation of over eight lakh jobs in the organised sector in the last seven months, the highest in the country, a statement from the Chief Minister's Office today said. "The country has seen creation of 39.36 lakh jobs in organised sector during the period September 2017 to March 2018. Maharashtra has bagged the first position by creating 8,17,302 employment opportunities in this sector," the CMO statement said. The statistics, released by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on May 21, 2018, placed Maharashtra in the first rank among the six leading states. As per EPFO statistics, Maharashtra created 8,17,301 jobs followed by Tamil Nadu with 4,65,319 jobs. Gujarat stood third with 3,92,954 getting jobs. Haryana with 3,25,379, Karnataka with 2,93,779 and Delhi with 2,76,877 jobs stood at fourth, fifth and sixth ranks. H-4 visas are issued to the spouses of H-1B visa holders, a significantly large number of whom are high-skilled professionals from India. The Trump administration is planning to end the Obama-era rule allowing spouses of H1-B visa holders to work legally in the US, a move that could have a devastating impact on more than 70,000 H-4 visa holders who have work permits. The proposed rule is currently in final clearance, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told a federal court in a status update. The Trump administration yesterday told the court that once the proposal is cleared through the DHS, it will be sent to the Office of Management and Budget for review under Executive Order for regulatory and planning review. Conservancy workers sacked by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as their names were misspelt in documents submitted to the Supreme Court that sought permanent status for their jobs, today held a protest against the civic body's decision. They were joined at Azad Maidan, the protest venue, by conservancy workers from Thane and Navi Mumbai municipal corporations who have been dismissed for similar reasons. The BMC made some of these workers permanent nine months ago after the Courts order but later found discrepancies in spellings of some names in documents submitted to the SC and therefore removed the workers from the service, the workers union claimed. The workers have accused the BMC of not following due process while terminating their services. The 16-day long strike by sanitation workers in Haryana was today called off after the state government conceded to most of the demands including hike in salary and allowances. "The agitating Safai and sewer karamcharis in Haryana have decided to call off their strike," Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister, Kavita Jain told reporters here. Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Kumar Bedi, and Minister of State for Cooperation, Manish Grover, also jointly addressed a press conference along with Jain after a meeting with office-bearers of the Municipal Workers Union and Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, here today.
