L&T wins 'significant' order to build 2.3 mn tonne urea plant in Australia

Diversified group L&T on Monday said it has secured a "significant" order from Perdaman Chemicals & Fertilisers to build a 2.3 million tonne urea plant in Australia. On completion, this facility will be the largest urea plant in Australia and one of the largest in the world, the company said. Without disclosing the deal value, L&T said it was a "a significant order". Generally, significant order indicates a value between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,500 crore. "We've adopted a policy to not reveal commercial details of contracts as the value can change by the time of completion," L&T Group Chairman and Managing Director-Designate, SN Subrahmanyan said. The contract has been awarded by Italian firm Saipem & Clough -- the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor of Perdaman, which is an Indian-owned company. Markets extend gains on fag-end buying; Infosys, L&T shine amid mixed trend

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty pared early losses to close higher on Wednesday, helped by fag-end buying in index majors Infosys, L&T and M&M amid a mixed trend in global markets. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 137.50 points or 0.21 per cent to settle at 65,539.42. During the day, it fell by 369.03 points or 0.56 per cent to 65,032.89. The NSE Nifty gained 30.45 points or 0.16 per cent to end at 19,465. UltraTech Cement was the biggest gainer in the Sensex pack, rising 2.43 per cent, followed by NTPC, Tata Motors, Infosys, Power Grid, Mahindra & Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro, Maruti, Wipro and SBI were the major gainers. In contrast, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance and JSW Steel were the major laggards. Larsen and Toubro (L&T) on Tuesday said it has bagged orders in the range of Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,500 crore in the power transmission and distribution segments within the country and abroad. New orders have been secured in India and markets abroad, the infrastructure major said in a regulatory filing. Its arm "L&T Construction wins significant orders for its power transmission and distribution business", the company said. On the domestic front, the business has won an order to implement SCADA/DMS and related IT infrastructure for urban area power distribution systems in central Gujarat. Another order is for building a 400kV double circuit transmission line in Jharkhand. In the Middle East, the company has received an order for the construction of a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission segment. Larsen and Toubro (L&T) on Monday said it has bagged "large orders" in the water & effluent treatment segment in the domestic market. The work order has been received from the State Water & Sanitation Mission, Uttar Pradesh, to construct a water supply scheme for the Hanumanganj multi-group of villages in the districts of Ballia and Firozabad, L&T said in a statement. L&T Construction, an arm of the company, has been awarded large contracts for its water & effluent treatment business, it said. The company did not disclose the order value. According to the company's project classification, large orders are in the range of Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore. Homegrown L&T is a USD 23-billion company engaged in Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, hi-tech manufacturing and services and operated in over 50 countries worldwide.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Thursday said the company has supplied various components for India's moon mission Chandrayaan-3. In a regulatory filing, the company said components like "middle segment and nozzle bucket flange" were manufactured at its facility in Powai, while components like ground and flight umbilical plates were from the company's aerospace manufacturing facility at Coimbatore. AT Ramchandani, Executive Vice President and Head, L&T Defence said, "The space sector is opening up for the Indian industry and we will leverage this long association with ISRO to play a bigger role in space programmes of the future." L&T completes transition of $150-mn credit into sustainability-linked loan

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said it has completed the "transition" of a USD 150-million term loan into a sustainability-linked loan with Bank of America. Such loans incentivise corporate houses' sustainability performance with lower interest rates. "The sustainability-linked loan (SLL) reiterates L&T's continued commitment to its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals," the infrastructure major said in a statement. The transaction for the sustainability-linked loan (SLL) was completed on June 30, 2023. R Shankar Raman, group CFO and whole-time director of L&T, said the company continues to focus on achieving water and carbon neutrality by 2035 and carbon neutrality by 2040. The company's long-term strategic plan also outlines the ESG road map towards this goal.
