The office of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had received an unaddressed envelope on March 26 containing four sheets of handwritten answers of the Class 12 Economics paper, the Board said in its complaint to the Delhi Police. The Delhi Police's crime branch is investigating the alleged leak of Class 12 economics and Class 10 mathematics papers after registering two separate cases in the matter. In the wake of reports claiming paper leaks, the CBSE had yesterday announced re-examination of the two papers. In its complaint to the police, the Board has said that they received a complaint by fax on March 23 from an "unknown source" that a man running a coaching institute in Rajinder Nagar was involved in paper leakage. The complaint also named two schools in Rajinder Nagar for their involvement in the alleged leakage. The Union Law Ministry has approved the filing of review petition on Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 (SC/ST Act), in the Supreme Court, sources said on Thursday.The Opposition has been pressing the Centre to file a review petition against the recent top court ruling that diluted the provisions for immediate arrest under the SC/ST Act.On March 20, the apex court, in a bid to check misuse of the SC/ST Act, ruled that preliminary enquiry in a case under the Atrocities Act would be done by the DSP to ensure the allegations are not frivolous, and to avoid false implication of an innocent.The court also held that a government official cannot be prosecuted on mere allegation of committing an offence under the Act without the sanction of the appointing authority.

Venezuela's top prosecutor said 68 people have died in a fire at a police detention facility, where an inmates' rights organisation reported an attempted jailbreak. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) on Wednesday notified the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (Insolvency Professionals) (Amendment) Regulations, 2018 (Amendment Regulations), effective April 1.According to the amendment regulations, subject to meeting other requirements, an individual shall be eligible for registration as an insolvency professional if he has passed the Limited Insolvency Examination within the last 12 months and has completed a pre-registration educational course from an insolvency professional agency, as may be required by the IBBI. Furthermore, the syllabus, format, qualifying marks and frequency of the aforementioned examination shall be published on the website of the IBBI at least three months before the examination.As per the amendments, an individual with the required experience of 10/15 years is eligible for registration as an insolvency professional. Four men have been arrested for their alleged involvement in stealing electricity wires from the Magenta Line of Delhi Metro, police said today. The four accused were identified as Dilshad (22), Ali Hasan alias Lala (23), Saddam (24) and Imran (27). They had carried out several thefts in the Metro network in the past one month. Police said that Dilshad and Hasan were employed as labourers by a project company of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. On March 7, DMRC official Praveen Gupta filed five cases of overhead cable theft that allegedly occurred from January 23 to March 5, they added. On the basis of a tip-off, Dilshad, Hasan and Saddam were arrested on March 27, said Pankaj Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro). Two country-made pistols, along with live cartridges, were recovered from them. Subsequently, Imran, who used to buy the stolen cable from them, was also nabbed.
The decomposed body of a 23-year-old woman from Meghalaya was found in her flat in southwest Delhi's Munirka, police said today. The body was found yesterday after the landlord detected a foul smell emanating from her flat, which was locked from outside, the police said. He peeped through a ventilator and saw the woman lying inside. Subsequently, the police were informed. The Police are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of the woman's death. It is suspected that she was killed. Police are scanning CCTV footage from nearby area to identify the people who visited her, they said. The woman was working at a call centre in Gurgaon.
A Michigan man whose murder conviction was thrown out after he spent 45 years in prison will not face a second trial. Prosecutor Kym Worthy said today that she's dropping the case against Richard Phillips. She says he was the victim of false testimony by a key witness. Worthy says what happened to Phillips "was not justice at all." Phillips' murder conviction was thrown out last summer and he's been free since December. He'll likely be eligible for more than USD 2 million under Michigan's wrongful conviction law. Phillips has long maintained that he had nothing to do with the 1971 fatal shooting of Gregory Harris. In 2014, the Innocence Clinic at University of Michigan law school learned that a co-defendant said Phillips played absolutely no role in the killing.

Two fraudsters were arrested for allegedly running a fake call centre to dupe people having insurance policies of a private insurance company, police said today. A case of cheating was registered on a complaint by a customer of Max Life Insurance in Mayur Vihar. The complainant alleged that he was cheated Rs 90,000 on pretext of easy premium payment, DCP (East) Omvir Singh said. The complainant has alleged that he was contacted over phone by a female who claimed to be an employee of the insurance company, he said During investigation, it was revealed that a fake call centre was running in Lucknow and its kingpin keeps visiting Delhi, the officer said.
