A Kerala court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who was arrested on the charge of raping a nun repeatedly between 2014 and 2016, till October 20.
Three teenage boys were killed when the tractor-trolley on which they were travelling fell in a roadside ditch here, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred last night near Belkharnath Dham, they said. The boys were rushed to nearby hospital where the doctors declared them dead, police said. The deceased have been identified as Abhishek Kumar (16), Tej Bahadur (17) and Vijay Kumar (14), they said.

Spurious diesel in four tankers was seized from a fuel station at Ratenpuri village here, an official said Saturday. Samples were collected and the fuel station was sealed after the raids Friday, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Inderkant Divedi said. Police said they have detained a couple on the outskirts of Mexico City on suspicion they may have killed as many as 10 women and sold a dead woman's baby. Officers had placed the couple under surveillance and caught them coming out of a house with a baby carriage on Thursday. Inside the carriage, they found dismembered human body parts the pair intended to dispose of in a nearby vacant lot, Mexico State police said Friday. Police said they went to the lot and found more body parts, but they were in such bad condition that forensic tests will be needed to identify the victim. Police said the couple acknowledged disposing of other bodies in a similar fashion, and authorities were searching two other properties. The Karnataka Police on Friday arrested 51-year-old Basavaraj, a physical education teacher in the Government Girls High School in Kalburagi, for sexually abusing and molesting female students.The teacher has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. A self-styled godman was arrested for allegedly stealing mobile phone after taking lift from a truck on Outer Ring Road here, police said Friday. The incident took place on Tuesday and the accused was identified as Mithun, they said. The accused allegedly boarded the truck from Mukundpur Chowk to Burari. He apparently stole mobile phone and fled the spot in a car, they said. A case was registered against him. He was arrested on Friday while the police were patrolling on Outer Ring Road. Two unclaimed mobile phones were also recovered from him, they said. Pankaj Sharma has been appointed as the ambassador and India's permanent representative to the United Nations Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, an official statement said. Sharma is currently the joint secretary (Disarmament and International Security Division) in the Ministry of External Affairs. He will replace Amandeep Gill. A 40-year-old man died after his neighbour allegedly hit him with an iron for disposing off a dead rat near his house in outer Delhi's Kirari area, police said Friday. The incident took place on Monday. Police said they were informed about the incident by the hospital authorities the next day, following which they registered a case. The victim died on Thursday during the course of his treatment, a police official said. A case has been registered and we are probing the matter, Seju P Kuruvilla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) said. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday convicted four persons, accused of damaging the monetary stability of India by way of smuggling and circulation of the fake Indian currency notes and thereby committing a terrorist act under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.The quantum of punishment to convicts- Afroz Ansari, Sunny Kumar, Ishraful Alam and Alomgir Sheikh will be pronounced on October 11 by the NIA special court.
