UP Congress president launches regional Bharat Jodo Yatra from Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Congress president Brijlal Khabri launched the regional Bharat Jodo Yatra from Ravindralaya Charbagh here on Monday and said the foot march is a sign of change under former party president Rahul Gandhi's leadership. Khabri was accompanied by party leader Nakul Dubey. The yatra has been launched in support of the pan-India foot march led by Gandhi. Khabri began the yatra by garlanding a statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Congress said in a statement. Addressing the gathering, the state Congress chief said the yatra is a sign of change under the leadership of Gandhi. After it started from Charbagh, the yatra of Awadh zone reached Shaheed Smarak via Bansmandi Chauraha, Naka Chauraha, Raniganj, Rakabganj, Yahiyaganj, Nakhas Chauraha, Charak Chauraha and Imambara, the statement said. UP CM Adityanath accuses previous state govts of neglecting Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday accused previous state governments of neglecting the development of the capital city and said the city suffered from filth, disorder and anarchy. However, Lucknow has been completely transformed in the past five years, he said. "Five years ago, the state capital used to bear the brunt of neglect of local governments. Despite Lucknow being the capital, when one saw dirt or witnessed chaos and anarchy they had a different image of the place in their minds," the chief minister said during his address at the 'Prabuddhjan Sammelan' (Intellectuals' Conference) here. UP to develop bus stations with modern facilities, on lines of airports

The Uttar Pradesh cabinet gave its approval on Friday for developing 23 bus stations on a public-private partnership with state-of-the-art facilities on the lines of airports. The stations include two each in Lucknow, Agra and Prayagraj, besides Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Kanpur, Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said. During a meeting that was presided by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the cabinet approved the proposal to develop 23 bus stations in big cities in the first phase, Singh told the media. Later, it will be taken up in all the 75 districts of the state, he said. Hotels, restaurants, malls, toilets and separate facilities for women will be made available at these bus stations, according to Singh. It will have good seating facilities and good toilets like those at airports, he said, adding that the tenders would be floated soon.

Allahabad HC pulls up state govt for lapses in Lucknow hotel fire case

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday pulled up the state government for alleged lapses in regulation of development and housing authorities, in connection with a PIL on a fire incident at a Lucknow hotel. The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court expressed dissatisfaction as the state's lawyer could not place proper replies to its queries in connection with the PIL. The court had taken suo motu cognisance of the fire at the Levana Suites hotel in the posh Hazratganj area in the city earlier this month in which four guests were killed and several injured. A bench of justices D K Upadhyay and Saurabh Srivastava was hearing the PIL.
