BJP extorted, looted money from traders for 15 years: Manish Sisodia

Ahead of the municpal polls here, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Wednesday accused the BJP of extorting money from traders in Krishna Nagar in east Delhi and said Arvind Kejriwal will help them get rid of this "curse". Sisodia, who is the deputy chief minister of Delhi, held marches in various wards of Laxmi Nagar, Krishna Nagar and Patparganj. He also interacted with people on civic issues faced by them. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls are being seen as a high stakes contest with the Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress eyeing to wrest it from the BJP which ruled it for 15 years. "Water accumulates on streets and causes many diseases, but the BJP has completely ignored all this over the years. The BJP has never considered garbage management as their duty in the past five years," Sisodia said, adding that in most of the colonies drains were choked and overflowing. The BJP extorted money from traders and imposed conversion charges arbitrarily, but

MCD polls: BJP emptied people's pockets instead of cleaning waste: Sisodia

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Saturday alleged that the BJP extorted money from people and emptied their pockets instead of cleaning the garbage in the city in the past 15 years. Holding street corner meetings at R K Puram, Munirka, Vasant Vihar, Mehrauli and Chhattarpur, Sisodia said the city residents are fed up with the BJP's incompetence in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and that they will vote to bring the AAP to the civic body. People will choose the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in MCD too to fasten the pace of development work across Delhi. The BJP extorted money from the common man and emptied their pockets. People are fed up with the BJP's incompetence and hence, they will vote for the AAP in the upcoming civic body polls, he underlined. Attempts made to frame Sisodia in fake excise scam case: Delhi CM

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the excise policy scam case "fake" on Friday and alleged that attempts were made to frame his deputy Manish Sisodia in it, whereas the CBI found nothing against him in its probe. "Manish's name is not in the CBI chargesheet. The whole case is fake. Nothing was found in the raids. A total of 800 officers found nothing in the probe for four months. Manish offered hope of a good future to crores of poor children in the country through a revolution in education. I am sorry that a conspiracy was hatched to defame such a person by implicating him in a false case," Kejriwal said in a tweet in Hindi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed its first chargesheet in the excise policy scam case against seven accused, including two businessmen, on Friday. MCD Polls: BJP failed, Delhi will give befitting reply, says Sisodia

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Wednesday said the people of Delhi would give a "befitting response" to the BJP, which had "failed" to perform its primary responsibility during its 15-year tenure in charge of the civic body. The BJP has been in power in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) -- trifurcated in 2012 into north, south and east corporations and then unified this year -- for three straight terms. Addressing public meetings at wards in Harkesh Nagar, Pul Prahladpur and Tughlakabad, Sisodia said citizens of the national capital were "fed up" with the civic body and would choose the party that worked for development this time. "Citizens have been saying that the BJP has been cheating the public for the last 15 years in the MCD. The people are also fed up with their garbage mismanagement. This time, the people will choose the party that works for development," he said. The AAP on Wednesday kicked off the second phase of its campaigning for the MCD elections with music

Gujarat polls: BJP is learnt to have 'threatened' some channels: Sisodia

The BJP is learnt to have "threatened" some news channels that it will not send its panelists to participate in debates on Gujarat if AAP representatives are invited, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged on Monday, amid high-decibel campaigns by the parties for assembly polls in the state. Reacting to Sisodia's tweet, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal took potshots at the BJP and said it was not right on the part of the saffron party to "threaten" TV channels in such a manner. "People from some TV channels have said that BJP has threatened that it will not participate in any of the debate on Gujarat if they invite AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) representatives there. TV channels protested a lot but BJP did not agree," Sisodia said in a tweet in Hindi. He, however, did not give any proof to his claim on the micro-blogging site. "BJP guys! Come face to face if you have the courage. You have already run away in fear," the senior AAP leader. On his .

MCD polls: AAP launches 'Kejriwal ki Sarkar, Kejriwal ka Paarshad' campaign

AAP leader Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia sharpened his attack on the BJP, accusing it of having "no vision" for the MCD as he announced a new campaign to "alert voters" in choosing the Aam Aadmi Party in the civic body polls. BJP leaders have no agenda in this polls other than to "abuse Arvind Kejriwal day and night", he alleged while launching the 'Kejriwal ki Sarkar, Kejriwal ka Paarshad' (Kejriwal's government, Kejriwal's councillor) campaign. Sisodia claimed the "AAP is set to win" the MCD polls and if BJP wins even one ward in Delhi "they will impede development work in their areas". The BJP has done nothing in the past 15 years in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and has no vision for the next five years as well, he alleged. "But, we have a vision to fix civic problems, make parks better and address landfill sites issues. The AAP is going to win this election. So, if you want work to be done in your ward, pick an AAP councillor. If a BJP councillor is elected i

Satyendar Jain moves court, seeks contempt proceedings against ED

Jailed AAP minister Satyendar Jain on Saturday moved a court here seeking contempt proceedings against the Enforcement Directorate for allegedly leaking a CCTV footage to the media in which he is seen receiving massage inside Tihar Jail. Special Judge Vikas Dhull issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate on Jain's plea, asking the agency to file its response by Monday. In his plea, the Aam Aadmi Party leader has accused the ED of leaking the CCTV footage "despite an undertaking given in the court" that no material related to the case will be divulged to the media. A CCTV footage of Jain getting massage inside Thar Jail emerged in the mainstream as well as social media on Saturday morning. Earlier during a bail hearing, the ED had accused Jain of getting special treatment inside the jail. The court had earlier ordered the ED as well as Jain's legal team to not leak any content of affidavits or video related to the case to the media, and had taken their undertakings in that ...

Leaked videos: Sisodia says Jain undergoing physiotherapy for spine injury

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday accused the BJP of leaking AAP minister Satyendar Jain's videos from the Tihar jail here and claimed that he was undergoing physiotherapy for a spine injury. Accusing the saffron party of resorting to cheap theatrics, he said Jain, who is in judicial custody in a money laundering case, had fallen down in jail. "He (Jain) had sustained an injury to his spine and even underwent two surgeries. The doctor had advised physiotherapy upon discharge and those videos show him getting physiotherapy," he said. Sisodia also said that his colleague has been lodged in a false case and that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was poking fun at Jain's illness. "They (BJP) are losing the MCD and Gujarat polls and that is why they are resorting to such cheap theatrics. They should fight the MCD elections in Delhi on issues," he said.

If AAP wins MCD polls, garbage mountains will disappear in 5 yrs: Sisodia

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday said people will vote for the AAP in the upcoming municipal polls to clear the "garbage of the BJP" and if the Arvind Kejriwal-led party comes to power in the MCD, it will make the "mountains" of trash disappear from the city in five years. Sisodia said this while interacting with reporters after visiting the Ghazipur landfill site in east Delhi. Just to show that the height of the Ghazipur landfill has come down, the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken garbage from it and dumped it in nearby areas, he alleged, adding that the saffron party lacks the intention to solve the problem. In the December 4 MCD election, people will vote for "jhadu" (the Aam Aadmi Party's poll symbol) to "clear the garbage of the BJP" for a clean Delhi, Sisodia said. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal himself is an engineer and makes meticulous plans, he said, adding that a plan has also been made to clear the mountai
