Israel's Netanyahu biggest terrorist after Adolf Hitler: Mehbooba Mufti

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the "biggest terrorist after Adolf Hitler" as the Jewish leader has turned Palestine and Lebanon into "gas chambers". Mehbooba had earlier condemned the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Israeli airstrikes and cancelled her election campaign for a day to extend support to the people of Lebanon and Palestine. "The International Criminal Court has given a verdict against Netanyahu. This (attacks in Lebanon) incident has proved that he is really a criminal who has killed thousands of persons in Palestine and is now doing the same in Lebanon. No condemnation is enough," Mehbooba told PTI Videos. Terming Netanyahu as "the biggest terrorist after Hitler", the former chief minister said, "Hitler set up gas chambers to kill people but Netanyahu has turned Palestine and Lebanon into gas chambers where they are killing people in thousands," she said. Mehbooba said the government's decision

Mehbooba Mufti shedding 'crocodile tears' over Nasrallah's killing: BJP

The BJP on Sunday lashed out at PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for "shedding crocodile tears" and indulging in "votebank politics" after the former chief minister cancelled her poll campaign over the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Labelling her as "pro-militant", BJP national spokesperson R P Singh said, "By cancelling her campaigning, she has shown she is shedding tears over the death of terrorists. It is her habit to call terrorists martyrs. She had similarly wept for Burhan Wani some time back." However, she is not alone in in expressing solidarity with terrorists, he said. "Sonia Gandhi too shed tears for the terrorists killed in Batla House. All leaders of the INDIA alliance do this for votebank politics. For them, the country doesn't come first. She is doing this for votebank," he charged. The BJP leader's remarks came after Mehbooba announced that she was going to cancel her poll campaign on Sunday. "Cancelling my campaign tomorrow (Sunday) in solidarity with the .

Mehbooba Mufti has only brought destruction to J&K: Omar Abdullah

National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah Sunday hit out at People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, saying she has brought nothing but destruction to Jammu and Kashmir. On Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal's announcement of resignation, the NC leader said it remains to be seen what will be his next steps. "Mehbooba Mufti has brought nothing but destruction to Jammu and Kashmir. If anyone has played the biggest role in bringing BJP (in J&K) then it is PDP and its leadership," Abdullah told reporters in Anantnag district of south Kashmir. Referring to the violent street protests after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in 2016 that left over 90 civilians dead, Abdullah said Mufti should give an account of 2016 before pointing fingers at him. "She talked about milk and toffee...she has not yet apologised for that. She has not yet apologised for bringing the BJP here. She has not apologised for pushing Jammu and Kashmir towards this ...

PDP contesting polls to stop BJP from burying Kashmir issue: Mehbooba

People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti Sunday said her party is not contesting the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections only for undertaking developmental works, but to stop the BJP from burying Kashmir issue and Article 370. "It is a matter of shame for the BJP that has been saying the situation has improved, but they could not hold elections in J&K in the last 10 years. People are annoyed, they are suffocating. They want a government to be formed which can address their concerns and end their difficulties," Mufti told reporters here. The PDP chief said her party is not contesting the elections only for constructing drains and lanes, "we are contesting because the BJP wants to bury Kashmir issue and Article 370, and wants everyone to talk only about election". "But we are adamant that the resolution of Kashmir issue is very important," she added. Asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's jibe at Abdullahs, Muftis and Gandhis, Mufti said, "He had said he will ...

J-K Assembly polls: Sheikh Rashid's party proxy of BJP, claims Mehbooba

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday accused jailed MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid's Awami Ittehad Party of being a proxy of the BJP, and warned the people of Jammu and Kashmir not to come under the influence of such parties. Her remarks came a day after PDP candidate from south Kashmir's Shopian assembly segment Yawar Shafi Banday was injured in an alleged attack by the workers of the Awami Ittehad Party (AIP), which is led by Rashid, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, in Balpora area of Shopian. "Our candidate was going to his constituency, some workers associated with AIP assaulted them, even our candidate Yawar Banday was beaten and he is fighting for his life, his ribs broken, his condition is serious," Mehbooba claimed while addressing a press conference in Khanabal area of Anantnag district. Rashid defeated former chief minister and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah from the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency earlier this year. The PDP chief questioned how the A

Congress was not good for NC in J&K till Mufti Sayeed made it so: Mehbooba

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said the National Conference forged an alliance with Congress, its nemesis, in the 1980s, only after her late father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed turned the national party into a viable option in the valley. Addressing an election rally in Kokernag assembly segment of Anantnag district, Mufti recalled the time when the National Conference enforced a social boycott of Congress workers in Jammu and Kashmir. "There was a social boycott. Daughters of (some) Congress workers were divorced ... The barber would not provide his service to Congress workers. But Mufti Mohammad Sayeed organised the party and Congress protested against the rising corruption. Six people were martyred when Farooq Abdullah was the chief minister," she said. "When Farooq Abdullah realised that Congress is becoming a viable option and will take part in the National Conference, he put Congress in his pocket (through an alliance) and it is struggling to come out of it till date," she ..

EC changed vote-counting date in J&K at BJP's behest: Mehbooba Mufti

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday alleged the Election Commission has changed the date of counting of votes for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls at the behest of the BJP. "They (ECI) do what suits the BJP. When I contested the (Lok Sabha) elections, they unnecessarily changed the date (of polling). Everything is done as per the wishes of the BJP and its proxy parties," she told reporters here. Mufti was talking to mediapersons after several second rung politicians joined the PDP at the party office here. The Election Commission on Saturday announced a change in the day of counting of votes in Jammu and Kashmir from October 4 to October 8. The move came after the poll body changed the polling date in Haryana from October 1 to October 5 in view of a festival in that state. On the transfer of senior police officers during the elections, the PDP chief said she is happy that all the officers are locals and hoped they will help in conducting free, fair and impartial poll ...

PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti claims outgoing calls on her mobile suspended

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday claimed that outgoing calls on her mobile number have been suspended without any explanation. "I am not able to make any calls since morning. The PDP also flagged the issue in a post on X. "Just ahead of the polls, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti's @MehboobaMufti cellular phone service has been abruptly snapped. PDP workers, polling agents being asked to report to police stations: Mufti

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti alleged on Friday that the polling agents and workers of her party are being asked to report to police stations ahead of the voting for the Lok Sabha polls on Saturday. Mufti is contesting the election from the Anantnag-Rajouri seat, which is scheduled to go to polls on Saturday. "PDP polling agents and workers both are being asked to report to local police stations. Why are the people of South Kashmir being punished for showing their faith in democracy? @ECISVEEP @manojsinha_ @JmuKmrPolice" the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said in a post on X. Meanwhile, the PDP has appealed to the Election Commission for an urgent intervention to ensure free and fair elections. In a letter to the chief election commissioner, the party said it seeks the commission's immediate attention towards "a grave matter that threatens the integrity" of the polls. "It has come to our notice that the police in Anantnag, Shopian, and Kulgam have
