Nitin Gadkari asks industries to establish skill development institutes

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Saturday urged industries to initiate skill development institutes to create a skilled and industry-ready workforce. Addressing the CII-Industry Academia Conclave in Nagpur, Gadkari emphasised the need for collaboration between industry and academia to develop skilled manpower. "Coordination between industry and academia is essential for the skill development of students and enhancing manpower," he stated. Gadkari suggested that industries should progressively establish their own skill development centres, as well as engineering and polytechnic colleges, to provide both knowledge and practical experience, thereby making students more skilful. ED conducts raids in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Nagpur in Rs 20K-cr bank fraud case

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday searched about 35 premises in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Nagpur as part of a money laundering probe against a company and its promoters accused of perpetrating an alleged bank loan fraud of more than Rs 20,000 crore, official sources said. The raids are being carried out on the Amtek Group and its directors, including Arvind Dham, Gautam Malhotra and others. About 35 business and residential premises in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Mumbai and Nagpur are being raided since this morning, the sources said. The probe stems from a CBI FIR against a group entity of Amtek-- ACIL Limited-- on allegations of a bank fraud of more than Rs 20,000 crore in a number of listed companies which were finally taken over in NCLT proceedings at nominal price leaving the consortium of banks with nominal recovery, they said. Nagpur explosives factory blast: One more person dies; toll rises to 9

The death toll in the blast at an explosives factory in Maharashtra's Nagpur district has gone up to nine with the last surviving person succumbing to his injuries, officials said on Sunday. Pramod Chavare died of his burn injuries at a private medical facility here on Saturday night, Dande Hospital's director Dr Pinak Dande told PTI. The blast took place at around 1 pm on Thursday at the Chamundi Explosives Pvt Ltd in Dhamna village under Hingna police station limits, around 25 km from the city. Nine injured persons were subsequently admitted to two private hospitals in the city. While six of them died during treatment on Thursday, three others succumbed over the last two days. Maoist links case: Ex-DU professor Saibaba released from Nagpur jail

Former Delhi University professor G N Saibaba was released from the Nagpur Central Jail on Thursday, two days after the Bombay High Court acquitted him in an alleged Maoist links case. Saibaba was lodged in the jail here since 2017 after his conviction by a trial court in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district. Before that, he was in prison from 2014 to 2016 and was subsequently granted bail. "My health is very bad. I can't talk. I will have to first take medical treatment, and then only I will able to speak," Saibaba, who has been wheelchair-bound, told reporters after coming out of the jail. A family member was waiting for him outside the jail. The CBI arrested two senior NHAI officials, General Manager Arvind Kale and Deputy General Manager Brijesh Kumar Sahu, and four others on Sunday in a bribery case involving an amount of Rs 20 lakh related to the Outer Ring Road Project in Maharashtra's Nagpur, officials said. Kale, a National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) project director in Nagpur, and Sahu, a project director in Madhya Pradesh's Harda, were arrested by the CBI along with the directors of Bhopal-based Bansal Construction Works Private Limited -- Anil Bansal and Kunal Bansal -- and employees of the firm Chhater Singh Lodhi and C Krishna, the officials said. "The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out searches at five locations in Bhopal and Nagpur on Sunday, including residential and official premises, and recovered Rs 1.1 crore in cash, including the bribe amount of Rs 20 lakh," a spokesperson of the federal agency said in a statement. Security upped after Raman Science Centre in Nagpur gets bomb threat email

A case has been filed after the Raman Science Centre in Nagpur received an email threatening a bomb blast, a police official said on Sunday. The threatening email was received on Friday and a thorough check of the premises by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and other security units did not yield anything suspicious, the Ganeshpeth police station official said. "We have intensified checking in the vicinity and deployed additional personnel for patrolling," he said.
