Priyanka says PM Modi 'failed' to address West Asia conflict concerns

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre have "failed" to address the concerns arising out of the ongoing West Asia conflict, which was affecting lakhs of Indians. Addressing a corner meeting at Peravoor in this northern district as part of the campaign for the April 9 Assembly polls, she claimed that no adequate provisions had been made for the safety and security of Indians in the region. Cong keeps singing to Pak's tunes, compromising nation's security: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that while his government has carried out Operation Sindoor on terror camps in Pakistan, the Congress keeps on "singing to the tune of" the neighbouring country. On the development front, he alleged that the Congress had always taken a myopic view on the matter, while the BJP works towards ensuring long-term development of the nation. "The party always took short-term measures so that they could indulge in corruption. But the BJP looks far ahead while taking decisions for all-around development of all sections of society," Modi said. Addressing an election rally here in Assam's Barpeta district, the prime minister said the Congress has "always sung to Pakistan's tune". "This Pakistan connection compromises with the nation's security, and we can never allow that," he said. He also accused the Congress of neglecting the army by refusing to implement 'One Rank, One Pension'. But the BJP ensured that those who protect the nation get justice,

Mamata demands PM's resignation over silence on Pak's 'Kolkata threat'

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday asked why Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not raise Pakistan's threat to attack Kolkata, during his poll rallies in West Bengal a day earlier. "You (PM) target Bengal during election rallies; but when Pakistan talks of attacking Bengal, you do not utter a word. You should resign," she said at a poll rally here in Nadia district. "Why did the prime minister not raise the issue during his rally in Bengal? When Pakistan's defence minister says they will attack Kolkata, why didn't the prime minister say that 'we will take strong action'?" she posed a day after Modi addressed a poll rally in West Bengal's Cooch Behar. "Just like we do not accept any threat to the country, we will also not take the threat to Kolkata lying down," she said. Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday warned India that it would respond with a strike in Kolkata to any "future misadventures". "If India tries to stage any false flag operation this

Families of AI171 crash victims seek release of black box data, write to PM

Ten months after the tragic Air India plane crash that killed 260 persons, bereaved families of the victims have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the release of the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and black box data. Air India flight AI 171, a Boeing 787-8 aircraft enroute to London, crashed into a medical college hostel complex shortly after the take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here on June 12, 2025. The aircraft burst into flames, killing 241 out of 242 people onboard and 19 individuals on the ground. Around 30 bereaved families from across Gujarat met in Ahmedabad on Saturday and wrote a letter to the prime minister, requesting the release of the CVR and 'black box' (Flight Data Recorder) data to uncover the truth behind the calamity. "We want to know the truth about what caused the crash and whether there was any technical problem," they said. The letter, copies of which were sent to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), ...

Malda gherao reflects 'TMC's maha jungleraj', says PM Modi in Cooch Behar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday made the Malda gherao of judicial officers the fulcrum of the BJP's campaign on lawlessness in West Bengal, accusing the TMC government of running a "maha jungleraj" and pitching the 2026 assembly polls as a straight contest between the "bhay" spread by the ruling party and the BJP's "bharosa". Addressing his first election rally in Cooch Behar in north Bengal after the poll schedule was announced, Modi used the Malda incident to sharpen the BJP's twin campaign planks of "poor law and order" and alleged demographic change, besides the issues of safety of women and infiltration from Bangladesh to attack the TMC. "Just a few days ago, the entire nation witnessed judicial officers being held hostage in Malda. What kind of government is this, where judges and constitutional procedures are not safe? We cannot expect such a government to keep the people of Bengal safe," Modi said. The Prime Minister was referring to Wednesday night's incident in ...

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have prepared a roadmap for tribal development, and the BJP's return to power in the state will ensure its implementation. Addressing a rally in Dudhnoi in Goalpara district, Shah said that the Congress never made an Adivasi woman the country's President, but Modi changed that and Droupadi Murmu became the nation's first citizen. "A roadmap has been prepared by the PM and the Assam CM for the development of tribals... Vote for the BJP to ensure it is taken forward and implemented," he said. Shah also asserted that tribal areas will not come under the ambit of the Uniform Civil Code. Need to update public services to achieve 'Viksit Bharat': PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday stressed the need for continuously updating civil services with the changing times to achieve the goal of 'Viksit Bharat'. In a video message at the launch of 'Sadhana Saptah', he said that the governance of the country should improve the ease of living and the quality of life for citizens on a daily basis. Modi stated that the principle of governance in the country is based on the mantra "Nagrik Devo Bhavah" (citizens are like gods). This mantra, with a collective spirit, aims to make public services more capable and sensitive to the needs of citizens, he said. "When we talk about reforms and changes in administrative services, then one meaning of that is a change in the behaviour of public servants. We all know that in the old system, the emphasis was more on being an officer, but today it is on the sense of duty," the prime minister said. Modi noted that present efforts should be seen in the larger canvas of 'Viksit Bharat' of 2047. "Wha
