Asia Cup 2025 officials to be led by Richardson and Pycroft as panel heads

Seasoned match referees Richie Richardson and Andy Pycroft will head the panel of officials for the Asia Cup T20 beginning on Tuesday. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Monday confirmed the appointments of match officials for the group stage of the tournament. The umpiring panel includes India's Virender Sharma and Rohan Pandit, along with the Sri Lankan duo Raveendra Wimalasiri and Ruchira Palliyaguruge. Other umpires named for the group stage include Afghanistan's Ahmad Pakteen and Izatullah Safi, Pakistan's Asif Yaqoob and Faisal Afridi, and Bangladesh's Gazi Sohel and Masudur Rahman. Pycroft will serve as the match referee for the high-profile India-Pakistan clash scheduled for September 14 in Dubai. Palliyaguruge and Rahman will be the on-field umpires for the marquee encounter.

India rely on Arshdeep's rhythm and Bumrah's continuity at Asia Cup 2025

Arshdeep Singh's ability to regain "match rhythm" quickly and Jasprit Bumrah's capacity to play continuously without rest will define India's Asia Cup campaign, feels former national bowling coach Bharat Arun. Arun said Arshdeep, despite extensive bowling in England, is still short on competitive overs. He did play a Duleep Trophy game for North Zone though. India begin their Asia Cup campaign on Wednesday against the UAE. "Arshdeep, we all know what he is capable of doing. He must have bowled a lot in England, but he is definitely short of match practice. The rhythm really comes from playing matches no matter how much you bowl in the net and practice sessions," Arun told PTI during an exclusive interview. "I think it is important to bowl in matches. It's a big challenge for Arshdeep. How quickly he gets back his match rhythm would be very, very important. That constant hustle now takes them to the Asia Cup, where captain Jatinder Singh and all-rounder Sufyan Mehmood carry not just their team's hopes but also the story of a nation determined to carve its place in world cricket. "When we started, our primary job was to get a job; cricket was secondary for us, Jatinder told PTI Videos. "Most boys worked in offices and then managed cricket on the side.
