Cow protection organisations end up in govt net amid NGO crackdown

The latest home ministry crackdown on non-compliantnon-government organisations (NGOs) might have hit some holy cows. The list of some 5,922 units, which have not filed the annual returns and have been served show cause notice, includes several institutions that seek to serve the cows. Business standard went through the list to find at leastnine such NGOs, which had "Gau" or "Cow" in their names. These are SHRI HARYANA GAUSHALA, Gauv Sevva Trust(gst), Shri Gaushala Kathar Jungle, Ratanlal C. Bafna Gau Seva AnusandhanKendra, Shri Pinjara Pole Gaushala Sewa Trust, Shri Dayalu Gau jeav jan parmarthseva sansthan Kherapa, Shri Harihar Maharaj Kamdhenu Gaushevashram DharmikTrust, Sri Panch Dev Mahamandir Gau Sewa Ashram Samiti and CARE FOR COWS PUBLICCHARITABLE TRUST. The list could have other such organisations, withoutexpress giveaway in the names, serving the cause of the bovine considered holyby a section of Hindus and the ruling Bharatiya .
