Jakson Green inks pact with NHPC for supply of 400 MW solar power

New energy transition platform Jakson Green on Wednesday said it has inked a pact with state-owned NHPC for the supply of 400 MW solar power. Jakson Green has signed its first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NHPC Ltd, a company statement said. This agreement marks a significant milestone for Jakson Green, solidifying its position as a fast-growing Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a total portfolio of 1 GW under development, the statement added. "We are thrilled to embark on this agreement with NHPC, the first of many more to come. This 400 MW PPA, our largest to date, with NHPC is a monumental achievement for Jakson Green," Kannan Krishnan, Joint Managing Director, Jakson Green Pvt Ltd said. This new project will be located in Rajasthan and connected to the central grid, with an expected clean energy generation sufficient to power around four lakh households annually. State-owned PFC signs agreement with CVPPPL for Rs 1,870 crore term loan

State-owned PFC on Friday said it has signed an agreement with the Chenab Valley Power Project Private Limited (CVPPPL) to extend a term loan of Rs 1,869.265 crore. The CVPPPL is a 51:49 per cent Joint Venture of NHPC LTD and Jammu And Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Limited (JKSPDC), Power Finance Corporation (PFC) said in a statement. PFC signed an agreement with CVPPPL for Rs 1,869.265 crore term loan, it added. With this agreement, the financial closure for Kiru HEP (hydroelectric project) for Rs 3,738.53 crore has been achieved, PFC said. As per the agreement, the loan will be used to develop and construct the greenfield Kiru Hydro Electric Project (4x156 MW) on the river Chenab in the Kishtwar District of Jammu & Kashmir. PFC, under the Ministry of Power, is the largest non-banking financial company (NBFC).

NHPC Q4 results: Net profit declines 18% to Rs 611 crore, revenue falls

State-owned NHPC Ltd on Friday reported an 18 per cent fall in consolidated net profit to Rs 610.93 crore during the March quarter on account of decline in revenues. The company had reported a net profit of Rs 745.27 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's revenue from operations reduced to Rs 1,888.14 crore from Rs 2,028.77 crore in the January-March period of the 2022-23 fiscal. NHPC's expenses were at Rs 1,393.67 crore from Rs 1,545.48 crore a year ago. For the entire fiscal, the company's net profit was at Rs 4,028.01 crore as against Rs 4,260.83 crore a year earlier. The board of the company also approved a final dividend of Rs 10 per equity share for FY24.

NHPC inks agreement with Japan's JBIC for around Rs 1,100 crore loan

State-owned hydropower giant NHPC on Thursday said it has inked a loan agreement of JPY 20 billion (around Rs 1,100 crore) with Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for developing a 300 MW solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. This is the first kind of loan syndication by NHPC with JBIC for the financing of renewable energy project, a company statement said. According to the statement, JBIC's loan is co-financed with MUFG Bank Ltd., Japan and Bank of Yokohama Ltd, Japan. NHPC has secured a foreign currency loan of JPY 20 billion from JBIC for the implementation of renewable projects, including a 300 MW solar power project, Bikaner, it stated. The loan agreement was signed by the senior officials of NHPC and JBIC. The facility is extended under JBIC's GREEN Operations (Global Action for Reconciling Economic Growth and Environment Preservation), which ensures the preservation of the global environment.

NHPC board approves proposal for raising Rs 6,100 cr funds through NCDs

State-owned NHPC on Wednesday said its board has approved a proposal to raise Rs 6,100 crore in debt in 2024-25. The Board of Directors of NHPC in its meeting held on Wednesday considered and approved the proposal for raising of debt up to Rs 6,100 crore during 2024-25 through non-convertible Corporate Bonds in one or more tranches on private placement basis, term loans or external commercial borrowing in tranches, a BSE filing said. Further, the Board of Directors in the meeting has also given its in-principle approval for closure of Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Corporation Limited (a Subsidiary Company of NHPC Limited and Joint Venture with Govt. of Manipur), subject to the approval of DIPAM, Ministry of Power and Govt. of Manipur, it stated.

NHPC bags 200 MW solar project in Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat

State-run hydro power giant NHPC has bagged a 200 MW solar project which will be set up at Gujarat State Electricity Corporation's 1,125 MW renewable energy park at Khavda, in Gujarat. The e-reverse auction for the project was conducted by GUVNL (Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam) on March 2, 2024 and the Letter of Intent was issued on March 14, 2024, a company statement said. The project was secured at a tariff of Rs 2.66 per unit and will be completed in a period of 18 months. The project will generate about 473 million units in the first year of commissioning and the cumulative generation from the project over a period of 25 years would be about 10,850 million units. The NHPC will develop the project on a build-own-and-operate basis at a tentative development cost of about Rs 847 crore.

NHPC to set up 1,200 MW solar project in UP at Rs 797 cr investment

State-owned NHPC expects to complete the proposed 1,200 MW solar power project entailing an investment of Rs 796.96 crore in Uttar Pradesh in two years, the company said on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone of the solar project through virtual mode. NHPC in an exchange filing stated that the Jalaun Ultra Renewable Energy Power Park at Orai in the Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh will be developed by its subsidiary, Bundelkhand Saur Urja Ltd, at an investment of Rs 796.96 crore. "The park is proposed to be constructed in 24 months from the investment approval and will generate about 2,400 MUs (million units) of electricity every year," NHPC said. NHPC, under the Ministry of Power, is the largest hydropower development organisation in India, with capabilities to undertake all the activities from conceptualisation to commissioning of hydro projects. The Faridabad-based company has also diversified into solar and wind energy development.

NHPC Q3 results: Profit declines 19% to Rs 628 crore on higher expenses

State-owned NHPC on Monday posted a 19 per cent fall in its consolidated net profit to Rs 628.44 crore for the October-December quarter of 2023-24 due to higher expenses. The hydro-power producer had reported a net profit of Rs 775.99 crore in the October-December period of 2022-23, the company said in an exchange filing. The company's total income also fell to Rs 2,549.69 crore in the quarter from Rs 2,691.34 crore a year ago. Expenses rose to Rs 1,727.85 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 1,303.06 crore in the third quarter of the last fiscal. The board of the company approved an interim dividend of Rs 1.40 per equity share for the financial year 2023-24. It fixed February 22 as record date for the purpose of ascertaining eligibility of shareholders for payment of interim dividend.
