US President Donald Trump will host Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir for lunch at the White House on Wednesday, weeks after India and Pakistan were locked in a four-day military conflict. Trump would be hosting the Pakistan Army Chief for lunch in the Cabinet Room of the White House at 1 pm, an official advisory released by Washington said. The US president had cut short his trip to Canada's Kananaskis for the G7 Leaders' Summit and returned to Washington Tuesday morning amid escalating tensions in the Middle East with the latest Israel-Iran conflict. Interestingly, Trump, during a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asked him if he could stop in the US on his way back from Canada. Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir was on Tuesday promoted as the Field Marshal for "successfully" leading the armed forces in the recent conflict with India, state-run TV reported. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Shehbaz Sharif says Pak Army was ready, lauds forces for 'swift response'

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that the Pakistan Army was ready for an Indian attack, lauding his forces for the "swift response". Addressing a session of the Parliament amid escalated tensions between the two countries, Shehbaz claimed that the Pakistan armed forces destroyed five Indian jets. Pakistan to raise defence budget by 18% amid tensions with India: Report

Pakistan coalition government has endorsed an 18 per cent increase in defence spending to over Rs 2.5 trillion in the next budget due to tensions with India, according to a media report on Tuesday. Pakistan test-fires Abdali missile amid tensions over Pahalgam attack

Pakistan on Saturday announced that it has conducted a successful training launch of the Abdali Weapon System a surface-to-surface missile with a range of 450 km, amid heightened tensions with India following the Pahalgam terror attack. The launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of troops and validating key technical parameters, including the missile's advanced navigation system and enhanced manoeuvrability features, the army said in a statement. Pakistan appoints ISI chief Lt Gen Malik as new National Security Adviser

Pakistan has appointed spy chief Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik as the new National Security Adviser (NSA) amidst raging tension with India. Malik was appointed as the director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in October 2024. According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Tuesday, General Malik was formally given the task of the NSA. Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik HI (M), DG (I), shall hold the additional charge of the National Security Adviser, with immediate effect, the notification stated. He is the country's tenth NSA, but it is for the first time that a serving ISI chief was given the task to serve concurrently in the two key positions. The posting comes amid heightened tensions with India following the recent Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 people were killed. The NSA position had remained vacant since April 2022, when the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government was ousted. Dr Moeed Yusuf was serving as the NSA at that time.

Pakistan's security forces have killed 10 terrorists in two separate incidents in the country's restive Balochistan province, authorities said.
