PM Modi, KCR make tall promises, keep none: Ghulam Nabi Azad

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad Sunday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao of making tall promises and not keeping any of them. Addressing a public rally here, Azad said the TRS supported BJP in passing several bills in the Parliament and on many issues. Nepal to facilitate 19th SAARC Summit in Pakistan

TRS govt only for KCR's family not for people: Moily

Senior Congress leader M Veerappa Moily Sunday alleged that the TRS government was not for the people of Telangana but only for the family of caretaker chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. He also claimed KCR (as Rao is popularly known) was not concerned about problems of the people and had not fulfilled the promises made to them. Ex-BJP MP Gunvantrao Sarode dead

Former Lok Sabha MP of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) from Maharashtra Dr Gunvantrao Sarode died Sunday in Jalgaon, a party official said. He was 78. Sarode, who hailed from Jalgaon district in north Maharashtra, was admitted in Sahyog Critical Centre in Jalgaon following illness. The doctors announced his death this afternoon, the official said. Sarode had won Lok Sabha elections in 1991 and 1996 on the BJP ticket from Jalgaon constituency. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said: "Sarode's association dates back to the days of Jan Sangh. It was his efforts that helped the BJP spread its work in areas like Jalgaon and Raver Lok sabha segments. His commitment to the service was commendable." MP polls: Cong questions security of EVMs in strongrooms

The Congress has raised doubts over the security of EVMs kept in strongrooms across Madhya Pradesh after voting in the assembly elections as the state awaits counting on December 11. Cong names Bixel Kongadi as candidate for J'hand Assembly seat bypoll

The Congress on Sunday named Bixel Kongadi as its candidate for the Kolebira Assembly byelection in Jharkhand scheduled for December 20. Congress president Rahul Gandhi has approved the candidature of Kongadi as the Congress candidate for the ensuing byelection to the Legislative Assembly of Jharkhand from Kolebira-ST constituency, a party statement said. Voting for the bypoll would take place on December 20, while counting of votes will take place on December 23. The seat had fallen vacant after sitting MLA Enosh Ekka was found guilty of murder and convicted by a Simdega court in July. ASEAN defence ministers meeting begins in Lucknow

The ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) Experts' Working Group on Military Medicine being co-chaired by India and Myanmar began Sunday at the Central Command in Lucknow, a Defence official said. "The aim of the conference is to establish better co-operation in medical operations amongst ASEAN and ASEAN-Plus countries for civil support by military operations other than war, especially humanitarian assistance and disaster response missions," the official said in a statement. At the outset, Indian and Myanmar held a bilateral meeting as both countries are co-chairing the meeting. The meeting will conclude on December 6. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations includes Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Brunei. The Congress on Sunday announced Koli leader Avchar Nakiya as its candidate for the December 20 Jasdan by-election in Gujarat.
