TRS is "B team" of BJP, Sangh Parivar: Rahul Gandhi

The TRS is the "B team" of Sangh Parivar and the BJP, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said today and claimed the aim of K Chandrasekhar Rao's party and AIMIM is to ensure that his party is not able to defeat the BJP at the national level. "First we will fight against Narendra Modis 'B team' (the TRS) and after that we will beat the 'A team' (the BJP- led NDA)," he asserted. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Thursday alleged that the Congress was the mother of "anarchy" and development was not in its DNA. 'Kaamdar' vs 'naamdar' fight in Rajasthan: PM

Accusing the Congress leadership of losing touch with the ground reality, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday said those who cannot tell moong' from masoor daal' are now taking about farmers. At rallies in Nagaur and Bharatpur, Modi pitched the December 7 assembly polls in Rajasthan as a battle between him, a kaamdar who does the work, and a naamdar' (dynast), a jibe at Congress president Rahul Gandhi. He said Gandhi's close aides shamelessly called Naxals and Maoists revolutionaries, and referred to the death of a paramilitary jawan from Bharatpur in an encounter in Chhattisgarh. Will you forgive those who have insulted the martyr of Bharatpur? he said at the rally in the city. He said naamdar's people had called the Army Chief a street thug, recalling the row triggered months back by a remark by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit against General Bipin Rawat. While talking upon the Ujjwala scheme, which provides free cooking gas connections to the poor families, Modi recalled how his

Oppn UDF slams Kerala govt over Sabarimala restrictions, CM justifies

The Congress-led UDF Opposition Wednesday lambasted the ruling CPI(M) over restrictions imposed by police at Sabarimala, even as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said it was to ensure a smooth pilgrimage for "real" devotees. Armed with placards and banners, the Opposition members tried to interrupt the proceedings of the House as soon as it met and demanded the withdrawal of the prohibitory orders invoked in and around Sabarimala 'Sannidhanam', the temple complex. Some members even tried to climb Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan's podium and argued with him, demanding scrapping of the Question Hour to take up the adjournment motion over Sabarimala, considering the gravity of the subject. As the protest continued, the speaker stopped the proceedings for around an hour before the beginning of the 'Zero' hour (members can, with prior notice to the Speaker, raise issues of importance during this time). Justifying the police restrictions at the Ayyappa temple, Vijayan said the CPI(M)-led LDF ...

Germany urges France to turn UN seat into EU one

German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz on Wednesday proposed that France give up its permanent seat on the UN Security Council and turn it into an EU seat to allow the bloc to speak with one voice on the global stage. "I realise this will take some convincing in Paris but it would be a bold and smart goal," Scholz said in a wide-ranging Berlin speech on the future of the European Union. To lessen the pain of losing the powerful seat, France could become "the permanent EU ambassador to the United Nations", added Scholz, who is also Germany's vice-chancellor. France has been one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council since the body was first established in 1945 in the wake of World War II to prevent another large-scale conflict. The permanent members, which also include Britain, China, Russia and the United States, are the most influential countries in the 193-member United Nations because they hold the right to veto UN resolutions. Alongside the five permanent seats, the
