Bangladesh PM appeals OIC to stand beside Rohingyas

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina requested the Muslim countries under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to stoutly stand beside the forcibly deported Rohingyas to protect their dignity and security.Addressing the inaugural session of the 45th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of OIC, she told the members of OIC that there is no scope for the organization to overlook this crisis."My appeal to the OIC is to stand solidly beside the forcibly deported Rohingyas in safeguarding their dignity and security. Documents show converted temple was tomb, says INTACH

A day after a report emerged regarding the alleged conversion of a small tomb into a temple at Safdarjung Enclave's Humayunpur village, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Director-Projects Amit Kumar said the structure has been mentioned as tomb in historical documents.Speaking to ANI, Kumar said the structure is a national heritage, is some 500 years old and dates back to the Lodi period."As per a document written in 1929-30, it is mentioned as a tomb. To me, it is a structure and its value is that its 500 years old, that is what is important to me. Minorities in Pakistan are facing persecution by the state and non-state actors, says Dr.Iftikhar Ayaz, Ambassador of the UK-based Universal Peace Federation.Recently, members of the Hazara community were targeted in a sectarian attack in Quetta, capital of Pakistan's Balochistan province.In Pakistan, targeted killings of minorities have continued as are they being attacked by Taliban, Islamic State, and other Sunni Muslim militant groups for their religious beliefs. Palestinian president apologises for alleged anti-Semitic remarks

Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas apologised today for alleged anti-Semitic comments that drew global condemnation. "If people were offended by my statement at the Palestinian National Council, especially people of the Jewish faith, I apologise to them," he said in a statement, days after appearing to suggest Jewish behaviour, including money lending, led to their persecution in Europe. The English-language statement added that he opposed "anti-Semitism in all its forms" and wanted "to reiterate our long held condemnation of the Holocaust, as the most heinous crime in history". Monday's comments sparked global anger, with the United States, United Nations, European Union and others criticising them, as well as Israeli leaders. In a rambling speech to hundreds of Palestinian officials, the 82-year-old said for centuries Jews in Europe were "subjected to a massacre every 10 to 15 years. But why did this happen? Jagannath temple management deliberates to remove barricade

The management of 300-year-old Jagannath temple in the district is deliberating with the government and local community members for removal of barricade near the sanctum sanctorum for unhindered darshan of the lord. The Jagannath temple in the sleepy village in Kendrapara district had hogged spotlight over a decade back over caste flare-up on dalits' right for darshan of Lord. The dalits were earlier denied access into the temple and were only allowed to peep through the inbuilt holes on the temple boundary wall to catch glimpse of the lord. However, after days of simmering dispute that had threatened to disrupt peace, the upper castes had relented and the dalits had broken the age-old barriers by entering the temple on January 14, 2007. The Orissa High Court had also ruled that the dalits have the right to enter any Hindu temple.
