Safdarjung hospital to start first online critical care follow-up clinic

The Safdarjung Hospital administration will start the country's first online critical care follow-up clinic for patients discharged from the ICU who can get doctors' advice as they recover further in their homes. The online follow-up clinic will be available via an e-Sanjivani OPD portal from 10 am to 11 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, an official statement said. The portal will be inaugurated by hospital director, Dr Sandeep Bansal, on Saturday. Patients and their families can log in to the portal and get critical care consultation from the hospital, it said. "In India, ICU follow-up and critical care are extremely necessary because many of our patients come from very distant places. A severe cold wave walloped Delhi on Sunday, with the minimum temperature at the Safdarjung Observatory, the city's primary weather station, plunging to a bone-chilling 1.9 degrees Celsius, the lowest in January in two years. A blinding layer of dense fog enveloped northwest India and the adjoining central and eastern parts of the country, affecting road, rail and air traffic movement. Very dense fog lowered visibility to 50 metres at the Palam observatory, near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, at 5:30 am. The Delhi International Airport Limited tweeted that flights, which are not CAT III compliant, may get affected.
