HC asks MCA if it would demand additional water during IPL
The Bombay High Court today asked the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) if it would seek additional water supply from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to the Wankhede Stadium during the IPL cricket tournament. The T20 Indian Premier League (IPL) is slated to start from tomorrow at the Wankhede Stadium in south Mumbai. A division bench of justices A S Oka and Riyaz Chagla was hearing a public interest litigation filed by NGO Loksatta Movement in 2016, raising concerns over water usage for ground management during the IPL when Maharashtra was reeling under a drought. The petitioners' demanded that considering the water situation in Maharashtra, no additional water be supplied to any stadium in the state for the IPL. Last week, the court had asked the BMC if it would stick to its decision to not supply additional water to the Wankhede Stadium during the IPL. Nadal wins in first match since January
Rafael Nadal today won his first match since limping out of the Australian Open in January when he beat Germanys Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets in the Davis Cup quarter-finals. The world number one Spaniard, who is yet to fully recover from a hip injury, won 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 in just over two and half hours in Valencia, stretching his winning streak in Davis Cup to 23 matches. The victory in the Plaza de Toros bullring levelled the tie after Alexander Zverev beat David Ferrer 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 in the opening rubber. "Of course, its a positive thing to win in straight sets," said 31-year-old Nadal, who has not lost a singles match in the Davis Cup since his 2004 debut. "I played a solid match. Neroca beat Kerala Blasters 3-2, enter quaterfinals
I-League runners-up side Neroca FC rallied from two-goal deficit with a three-goal burst in 12 minutes to stun Kerala Blasters 3-2 and book a quarterfinal spot in the Super Cup football tournament here today. Neroca were trailing 0-2 till the 70th minute of the match after strikes from Victor Pulga (11th minute) and Prasanth (49th) but the Manipur side fought back in a remarkable fashion to run away with full three points in the round of 16 match at Kalinga Stadium. Jean-Michel Joachim (70th) began the Neroca fightback before Aryn Glen Williams (79th) restored parity. Felix Chidi (82nd) converted a penalty to send Neroca in the quarter finals. Neroca face Bengaluru FC in the quarterfinals.

Shubhankar Sharma was facing a tough challenge to make the cut as he was two-over through the front nine in the second round of the Masters at Augusta National here. SGFI to launch nation-wide talent hunt
School Games Federation of India (SGFI) will launch an ambitious talent hunt in its endeavour to unearth talented young cricketers later this year across the country. The initiative which has been christened as the National School Cricket League (NSCL) has been conceptualized with a vision of becoming India's ultimate platform for school cricket. SGFI will scout for talented youngsters across India in the age bracket of 12-18 years and then conduct a School Cricket League which will be held at premier venues and will follow a T20 format to select the Champion team of India. An esteemed panel of coaches from SGFI and mentors will form the selection panel and will conduct a through selection trials to choose the talented cricketers. The selected cricketers would then go on to represent their respective city/state team in the League.
