Rabada leads Capitals to Super Over win after Prithvi's 99

Paceman Kagiso Rabada defended 10 runs in the Super Over to steer Delhi Capitals to a thrilling victory over Kolkata Knight Riders after the home side made heavy weather of a run chase here Saturday. Chasing 186 to win, Delhi Capitals were set up nicely by Prithvi Shaw's 99 off 55 balls but they could not score six runs from the last over, bowled by chinaman Kuldeep Yadav, who held his nerves to give KKR a chance to steal a win. The Capitals ended their run chase at 185 for 6 in 20 overs, taking the match to Super Over. The home side managed just 10 runs in the Super Over bowled by paceman Krishna Prasidh but Rabada executed yorkers perfectly to deny KKR. He removed dangerous Andre Russell with a perfectly placed yorker and did not allow other batsmen, including captain Dinesh Karthik, to free their arms. KKR needed five off the final ball but managed just one. Shaw missed out on his century by just one run but steered Delhi Capitals to the doorsteps of a win. Jamaican Russell had ...

Slick Man City surprise Guardiola to cruise back top of Premier League

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admitted even he was surprised at how easily the English champions swatted aside Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage to climb back on top of the Premier League. City have now won their last 12 games in all competitions, but their rhythm from a two-week international break was not disrupted as goals from Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero ensured the game was won in the first 27 minutes. "It was a little bit of a tricky game. International break, 12.30 kick-off, a sunny day which is unusual," said Guardiola. "The way we started was amazing. They surprised me again, the first 15-20 minutes was exceptional. "After that the game was a bit more controlled, they had no clear chances. After the second goal the game was under control." Guardiola's men now lead Liverpool by a point with seven games remaining for both sides, but Jurgen Klopp's side can retake top spot with victory over third-placed Tottenham on Sunday. "Every game we have to win if we want to be ...

Jasprit Bumarh's spell against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday has attracted a lot of praise so much so that Parthiv Patel called him the world's number one bowler."The way Bumrah bowled in the last game, he hardly gave anything. We were very clinical, didn't take any risks: KXIP batsman Mayank Agarwal

Kings XI Punjab batsman Mayank Agarwal Saturday lauded his team's clinical performance in their comfortable eight-wicket win against Mumbai Indians in an IPL encounter. Having contributed a quickfire 43 off 21 balls, Agarwal said that while chasing a target of 177, the idea was to stay calm and focused to achieve the target. K L Rahul (71) and Chris Gayle's (40) knocks helped the Punjab side to achieve the target with eight balls to spare. Agarwal said that initially, MI didn't give Rahul any loose balls. "To be honest, they bowled well, they didn't give him too many loose balls and bowled tight to him. It was not easy for him to go out there and get runs, so once we realised that, we rallied around. That's what a good team does and we are very happy that we could do it as a side," Agarwal said addressing a post-match press conference here. Asked what was his thinking when he came in to bat after Gayle's dismissal, "thought process was to actually play good cricketing strokes. The ...

Fleming wants correct decisions from umpires but not too much dependence on big screen replays

Reflecting on the no-ball controversy that left Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohi seething, Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming Saturday said he was all for umpires making correct decisions but does not also want too much dependence on big screen replays. Kohli had came down heavily on umpire S Ravi in RCB's IPL match against Mumbai Indians on Thursday after the final delivery bowled by Lasith Malinga turned out to be a 'no-ball' but was not awarded to the Bangalore-based side which lost the game by six runs. The India captain had made a scathing comment that IPL was not club cricket and umpires should keep their "eyes open". Asked about the no ball incident, Fleming said, "The other night there is the team that felt aggrieved by the missing of the no-ball and the team that got away with it. Part of that is sport. "But I still want, as a coach and as a player you want as many right decisions made. The flip side is you don't want to interfere with the rhythm of the ..
