Hyundai, IIT-M to set up Hydrogen Valley Innovation Hub for green solutions

Auto-maker Hyundai Motor India and the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras here is set establish a Hydrogen Valley Innovation Hub at an outlay of Rs 180 crore, which would promote hydrogen-based clean energy solutions in various applications and sectors. A memorandum of understanding between Hyundai Motor India, IIT-Madras, and the state government's investment promotion agency Guidance Tamil Nadu was signed during the Global Investors Meet held here recently. "The Hydrogen Valley Innovation Hub project, with a total project cost of Rs 180 crore, will be established with an investment of Rs 100 crore by Hyundai Motor India Ltd, towards its capital expenditure requirements," a press release from IIT-Madras said on Friday. ProClime commits Rs 450 crore investment in TN to drive carbon projects

ProClime, a unified service provider in the climate space across Singapore, Sri Lanka, and India has committed Rs 450 crore investment in Tamil Nadu for taking up carbon projects, the company said on Friday. The Chennai-headquartered firm signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government during the recently held Global Investors Meet. "Over the next five years, ProClime will invest Rs 450 crore as climate investments in the state and aims to create employment opportunities through carbon projects. ProClime is poised to be the first unified climate service provider investing in Tamil Nadu for carbon projects that generate carbon credits to mitigate climate change," the company said in a statement. First Solar invests $700 mn for solar manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu

US-based First Solar said it has invested USD 700 million in setting up India's first integrated solar manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu that was inaugurated on Thursday. The facility, which has an annual capacity of 3.3 gigawatts (GW), is located in Tamil Nadu. It will produce the 'company's series 7' Photovoltaic (PV) solar modules for the Indian market. The facility has provided a direct employment opportunity to around 1,000 people, according to a statement. Tamil Nadu's Minister for Industries, Promotions and Commerce TRB Rajaa was the chief guest at the plant's inaugural ceremony that was also attended by the United States Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti and Chief Executive Officer of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Scott Nathan. The factory sets a high bar for sustainability and advanced manufacturing and has created high-value jobs in the state. 500 influencers to undertake route tracing Lord Ram's return to Ayodhya

More than 500 social media influencers are set to undertake a month-long 4,500-km yatra tracing the route taken by Lord Ram to return to his kingdom in Ayodhya from Tamil Nadu's Rameshwaram after his exile. According to organisers of the Ramotsav Yatra, it will cover five states -- Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Apurva Singh, who is part of the Ramotsav Yatra team, told PTI on Tuesday that the month-long yatra will start from Indore in Madhya Pradesh on January 14. Jindal Advanced Materials commits Rs 1,000 cr investment in Tamil Nadu

Composite materials manufacturer Jindal Advanced Materials has pledged an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore to set up a plant in Tamil Nadu, its first in south India. As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government, it will set up a manufacturing plant over an area of 250 acres, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. Bharat Forge to invest Rs 1,000 cr in Tamil Nadu to enhance production

Auto components major Bharat Forge on Tuesday said it has inked an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to invest Rs 1,000 crore over a period of five years to expand manufacturing footprint in the state. The company has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Guidance, the nodal agency of the state government as part of the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet 2024, it said in a regulatory filing. About 80% of buses operational during Tamil Nadu transport unions strike

About 80 percent of buses in Tamil Nadu were being operated on Tuesday amid the strike call given by various transport unions, including those affiliated to the CPI(M) and AIADMK, officials said. The state government buses were operated in several parts including Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Kanyakumari districts, benefiting the commuters, they said. In Chennai, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) authorities ensured the buses were operated as usual and that the strike did not impact the public much, a senior official said. "The MTC buses were being operated as scheduled from 6 am and the public are requested not to panic," a senior transport official said. "About 80 percent" of the buses were being run in the state, he said without divulging further details. Adani Group commits Rs 42,700 cr investment in Tamil Nadu across sectors

Diversified conglomerate Adani Group has committed investments to the tune of Rs 42,700 crore in Tamil Nadu across various sectors on the second day of the Global Investors Meet 2024 held here on Monday. At the valedicatory session of the event organised by the ruling DMK government, memorandum of understandings between the Adani Group and the state government were signed in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin, Minister for Industries TRB Rajaa, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, Managing Director, Karan Adani. Sunsure Energy commits Rs 3,150 cr investment in Tamil Nadu over 3 years

Sunsure Energy has pledged an investment of Rs 3,150 crore in renewable energy projects in Tamil Nadu in the next three years. As part of the memorandum of understanding with the state government, it will set up four renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 500 Megawatt (MW), the company said in a statement on Monday.
