Tata Communications net profit jumps 84% to Rs 544 cr in June quarter

Tata Communications on Wednesday posted an increase of 83.63 per cent in consolidated profit to Rs 543.76 crore in the June quarter. The company had reported a profit of Rs 296.11 crore in the same period a year ago, it said in a regulatory filing. "We delivered profitable data revenue growth as a result of disciplined execution, portfolio enhancements and deeper customer engagements. We continue to closely monitor and overcome the OEM and Supply Chain challenges. "We are pleased with the healthy growth in the order booking and funnel additions across our portfolio, both in India and international markets," Tata Communications Managing Director and CEO A S Lakshminarayanan said in a statement. The consolidated income from operations of Tata Communications grew by 5 per cent to Rs 4,310.52 crore during the reported quarter from Rs 4,102.79 crore in the year-ago period. Tata Consumer Products Ltd will continue to look for the right acquisition opportunities in different categories to fuel its growth, the company's chairman N Chandrasekaran said on Monday. Responding to shareholders' queries in the annual general meeting of the company, Chandrasekaran, who is also the chairman of Tata Sons -- the holding firm of the Tata group -- said TCPL (Tata Consumer Products Ltd) would focus on leveraging its product portfolio, expanding distribution and product innovation and entering new categories, while supporting both organic and inorganic growth opportunities in future. "We also believe in inorganic expansion and yes inorganic expansion is one of the key strategies for the company. SJVN inks pact with Tata Power Solar Systems for 1,000 MW solar project

State-owned SJVN Ltd on Thursday inked a pact with Tata Power Solar Systems to build a 1,000 MW solar project worth Rs 5,500 crore in Bikaner, Rajasthan. "SJVN today entered into an EPC agreement for 1,000 MW solar project in Bikaner, Rajasthan with M/s Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd," a company statement said. The contract agreement was signed in the presence of Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN by Chief General Manager (ECD), SJVN S K Sood, and Vepul Jain, Chief - Business Development, Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd. Sharma said this Rs 5,500 crore-EPC contract is the country's biggest solar contract awarded till date. The contract includes end-to-end delivery of commissioned solar plant to SJVN including arrangement of land on outright purchase basis, power evacuation system up to the ISTS (inter-state transmission system) sub station, and operation and maintenance of the solar PV plant for three years. Tata Projects secures Rs 2,000 crore order from Chennai Metro Rail

Tata Projects has won an order from the Chennai Metro Rail to build a nine-kilometre underground stretch with four stations for an estimated cost of Rs 1,999 crore. The project is part of the phase 2/corridor 3 of the Chennai metro and falls between Venugopal Nagar and Kellys Station, the company said on Wednesday without revealing the order value. A source at the company said the project is for Rs 1,999 crore. The work involves construction of the nine-kilometre twin bored tunnels, totalling 18 kilometres, from Venugopal Nagar to Kellys Station. The work has to be completed in four years. It also involves construction of the diaphragm walls of the station box and entry/exit structures of the Madhavaram Milk Colony, Murari Hospital, Ayanavaram and Purasaiwakkam High Road stations, including launching and retrieval shafts as required at these stations.
