Test cheating probe Toyota plant raided on 11.2 mn vehicles sales claim

Japanese transport officials raided the plant of a Toyota group company on Tuesday to investigate cheating on engine testing, as the company reported it kept its status as the world's top automaker in 2023, selling 11.2 million vehicles. Japan's top automaker Toyota agreed on Thursday to work with Idemitsu, a major Japanese oil company, on technology for mass production of solid-state batteries that promise to be a key component in future electric vehicles.
