PM Modi carrying forward legacy of SP Mookerjee: CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is carrying forward the legacy of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who was devoted to India and Indianism. Paying floral tributes at his statue here at the Civil Hospital on his 123rd birth anniversary, Adityanath said that the country will always remember the sacrifices made by Mookerjee for the "unity and integrity of India." He also described him as "a guiding light for India's industrial and food policies." The CM claimed that Mookerjee resigned from the first cabinet of the independent India and formed Jansangh when Jawaharlal Nehru adopted "appeasement" as a policy of his government. The differences between Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Jawaharlal Nehru came into a sharper relief when the Nehru government "attempted to play with the unity and security of the country by forcibly adding Article 370 to the Indian Constitution" he said. Mookerjee strongly opposed it and gave the slogan of 'Ek

Torrent begins pilot project for blending green hydrogen with natural gas

Torrent Power on Monday said it is working on a pilot project for blending green hydrogen with natural gas in the city gas distribution (CGD) network. The pilot project underway in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, is expected to complete in 8 months, the company said in a statement. "Torrent Power is implementing a green hydrogen pilot project for blending in the CGD network. The pilot project based on alkaline electrolyser will blend 2.5 per cent green hydrogen (GH2) into CGD network, marking an important milestone in the company's foray into GH2 business in India," it said. GH2 is produced using electrolysis of water powered by renewable sources. Its blending with the existing natural gas supply allows for a gradual transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy mix. Torrent Power is one of the largest companies in the country's power sector, with a presence across the entire power value chain -- generation, transmission and distribution.

DMCR liquor rule: UP excise dept says only one unsealed bottle allowed

Delhi Metro commuters landing in Uttar Pradesh's Noida with sealed liquor bottles may land in trouble, cautioned excise officials here on Saturday. The word of caution comes a day after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced permitting commuters to carry up to two sealed bottles of liquor on its network. Besides Delhi, DMRC's metro rail network expands to nearby cities like Gurgaon and Faridabad in Haryana, and Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh, the excise rules ban the import of liquor from outside the state, citing loss to the state government's revenue. Officials said the current rule permits import of only one unsealed bottle from adjoining Delhi or Haryana, whether by metro or road. "Although the Delhi Metro has allowed commuters to carry two sealed bottles of liquor, but rules of the Uttar Pradesh Excise Department will apply in UP's territories, irrespective of any changes in Delhi," Noida District Excise Officer Subodh Srivastava told PTI.

Bring reservation for Muslims, fill recruitment backlog: Mayawati asks BJP

BSP president Mayawati on Friday made a fresh appeal to state BJP governments for the implementation of reservation for Muslims, taking her cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stating in Bhopal that 80 per cent of Indian Muslims came from backward classes. The Bahujan Samaj Party leader in a tweet asked the BJP to "honestly" implement reservation and fill the backlog. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly saying at a BJP programme in Bhopal that 80 per cent of Muslims living in India are 'Pasmanda, backwards, exploited' is accepting the bitter reality that supports the need for reservation for Muslims." She said the BJP should not only drop its opposition to reservation but must also "honestly implement reservation and fill the backlog in recruitment to prove that they are different from other parties." Pushing for Uniform Civil Code during a programme in Bhopal on June 27, Modi said that Pasmanda Muslims were never treated as equal because of vote bank politics. 'Pasmanda' i
