₹3,300 cr paid to Uttarakhand farmers under Kisan Samman Nidhi: CM Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday said with the release of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, an amount of more than Rs 3,300 crore has been provided to the farmers of the hilly state so far. Virtually taking part in a programme in Varanasi where Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday digitally transferred a total amount of more than Rs 20,500 crore to the accounts of 9.70 crore farmers of the country under the 20th installment of the scheme, Dhami said with this, an amount of Rs 184.25 crore was transferred to over eight lakh beneficiary farmer families of Uttarakhand. It takes the total amount paid so far under the scheme to the farmers of Uttarakhand to Rs 3,300 crore, he said. After 2014, historic steps have been taken for the welfare of farmers across the country. Centre approves ₹125 crore project for landslide mitigation in Uttarakhand

The Centre has approved a project of Rs 125 crore for landslide mitigation in Uttarakhand and has released Rs 4.5 crore for it in the first phase, officials said here on Friday. Welcoming the approval of the project, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, "The project is a decisive initiative towards finding a long-term solution to landslides in disaster-sensitive areas of the state". Five sensitive sites most frequently hit by landslides have been selected for the project on a priority basis, he said. These places are Mansa Devi Hill Bypass Road in Haridwar, Galogi Hydroelectric Project Road in Mussoorie, Bahuguna Nagar Land-Subsidence Area in Karnaprayag, Chamoli, Charton Lodge in Nainital and Khotila-Ghatdhar Landslide Area in Dharchula, Pithoragarh, he said. At least 8 killed, 30 injured in stampede at Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar

A stampede broke out during a rush of pilgrims along a stair route leading to the Mansa Devi temple on a hilltop in Haridwar on Sunday, killing eight people and leaving 30 injured, officials said. Rumours of an electricity current where the stairs begin triggered panic among people, leading to the stampede, Haridwar's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pramendra Singh Dobal told PTI Videos. Citing a report from Haridwar ADM, the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority said eight people were killed in the stampede and 30 injured. Uttarakhand to give 10% horizontal reservation to Agniveers in govt jobs

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday said the state government is preparing to give 10 per cent horizontal reservation to Agniveers in government jobs after they complete four years of military service. Orange alert in 6 Uttarakhand districts; schools to remain shut in Dehradun

An 'orange' alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in six districts of Uttarakhand on Monday, the meteorological department said. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, the weather office has also predicted lightning accompanied with strong winds in some ares of Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar. The centre also said that letters have been sent to the district magistrates directing them to remain on alert and take necessary precautions. Meanwhile, Dehradun District Magistrate Savin Bansal issued an order for all schools and Anganwadi centres from Classes 1 to 12 to remain closed on Monday in view of the 'orange' alert.

U'khand chopper crash: AAIB says copter tumbled after rotor blade hit cable

In the helicopter crash that killed six people in Uttarakhand in May, the main rotor blade of the chopper struck an overhead fibre cable, before tumbling down the hillside and coming to rest against a tree, according to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). Releasing the preliminary probe report of the crash on Saturday, the AAIB said that the investigation team is working on the further course of action to find the root cause of the accident. The 17-year-old Bell 407 helicopter operated by Aerotrans Services Pvt Ltd, with six passengers onboard, crashed 24 minutes after being airborne on May 8. The pilot and five passengers died in the accident, while one passenger sustained serious injuries. AAIB said that the helicopter, which was airborne from Kharsali helipad at 8.11 am on May 8, was destroyed in the crash but there was no fire. Under 'Operation Kalanemi', launched by the Uttarakhand government, police here on Sunday arrested 34 more people, guised as sadhus and saints, to allegedly cheat people, officials said.
