Mary Kom, also a sitting Rajya Sabha MP in India, prevailed 5-0 in a dull contest where clean punches were few and far. Despite the height advantage Koddithuwak struggled to connect for most part. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat today said B R Ambedkar had felt that violence and even a non-violent protest such as a "Satyagraha" should have no place in independent India. Interestingly, his statement came against the backdrop of today's anti-quota Bandh and last week's shutdown by Dalit outfits against the alleged dilution of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, which had witnessed violence. "Today, our methods and deeds are totally different (than those of the freedom fighters) and they will have to be so. In the speech in the Constituent Assembly, Ambedkar had said that what we did during the British rule was fine for that time. Resorting to violence, like we did during the British rule, will not work in our own rule (post Independence)," Bhagwat said. "He (Ambedkar) had even said that while a Satyagraha was legally permissible, even that was not required in our rule. The only way to get a work done was through the courts," the RSS chief said, speaking at the launch of a website ..

The global chemical weapons watchdog said today it will "shortly" deploy a fact-finding team to the rebel-held Syrian town of Douma to probe an alleged poison gas attack. Both Syria and its ally Russia have called on the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to investigate after first responders said more than 40 people died in the suspected chemical arms attack on Douma on Saturday. "The OPCW technical secretariat has requested the Syrian Arab Republic to make the necessary arrangements for such a deployment," the OPCW said in a statement. "The team is preparing to deploy to Syria shortly," it added, saying the OPCW's director general Ahmet Uzumcu wants the team "to establish facts surrounding these allegations." The OPCW has maintained a presence in Syria since it first set up its fact-finding mission in 2014 following repeated allegations of chemical weapons use. But the deployment to Douma will be the first time an OPCW team has moved outside Damascus since ..
