A convoy reportedly carrying friendly foreign forces were attacked in Kandhar province on Sunday.The attack took place at Kandahar province's Daman district.Tolo news reported that previously, the troops targeted were a part of Kandahar airport's security team.At least two civilians were wounded in the incident, Tolo news further reported.As of now it is being suspected there are possible casualties among the foreign troops.On March 10 in two separate military operations, Afghan forces gunned down a total of 16 insurgents in Helmand and Jowzjan province which included six Islamic State militants, including two Uzbekistan citizens.

Assam Rifles has seized 97 gold bars worth Rs 4.8 crore from a vehicle in Tengnoupal district of Manipur, near the India-Myanmar border, and arrested one person in this connection, a release issued by the para-military force has said. The troops, while frisking the vehicles at Khudengthabi check post on the Imphal-Moreh highway on Friday, found the gold bars concealed inside the cavity of a car's chassis, it said. The vehicle was proceeding towards the state capital from the border town of Moreh in Tengnoupal district. The arrested individual has been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Imphal, it added.
A parliamentary panel has rejected the Home Ministry's suggestion that the overall internal security scenario in the country was under control in 2016, saying Jammu and Kashmir remained on the boil throughout the year and there was a "huge upsurge" in number of infiltration attempts. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, headed by senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, also said lack of financial resources has resulted in loss of lives of police and paramilitary personnel in the fight against Naxals. "The committee does not share the perception of the ministry that the overall security scenario remained under control during 2016," the panel said in the report submitted to the Parliament on Thursday. A Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli soldiers following a clash with Jewish settlers near the West Bank city of Nablus, medics and security sources said. Palestinian security sources said the clash was started by the settlers, after which the army intervened and fired at a group of Palestinians yesterday. Schools and colleges re-opened across the Valley today, except in four districts of south Kashmir, after remaining closed for the winter break and in the aftermath of the firing incident in Shopian, in which six people, including two militants, were killed last Sunday. The primary and middle schools reopened after a three-month long winter break. High and higher secondary schools, and colleges had reopened after the winter break on February 26, but were closed again in the wake of Shopian firing incident, officials said. They said schools and colleges in four districts of south Kashmir continued to remain shut and would reopen on Monday. Six people, including two militants, were killed on Sunday night in a shootout in Shopian's Pahnoo area. Militants hurled a grenade at a police station here tonight in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, but no damage was done, police said. The grenade, lobbed at the Kralkhud police station, exploded with a loud bang, a police official said. There was no damage caused in the explosion, he said, adding that a search was launched to nab the attackers.

Chinese Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui today praised Chinese scholar Hu Hsu,who settled down here for 27 years since 1951, saying he enhanced cultural ties between the two countries.
