Onion prices jump 59%: Why the Centre is sending a ‘Kanda Express’

Onion prices have jumped sharply across India, with the all-India average retail price up 59% in a year. The Centre is now moving buffer stocks from Nashik through dedicated railway rakes and selling onions at ₹35 per kg in selected cities.
