Holy month of Ramadan' begins: Markets bloom on 1st day

There has been bloom in the markets of India on the 1st day of Ramadan. Ramadan is the holy month for the Muslims. During Ramadan, Muslims fast for one month. At the end of the month, Muslims celebrate Eid-al-Fitar. In Surat, shopkeepers are very happy, sale have risen up because of Ramadan. There has been rise in the sale of ‘fruits’ and ‘sewai’. They are also planning to setup additional shops for special products. ‘Sewai’ seller said, “There is no much difference between the prices as compared to the last years. Shopkeepers are selling dates (khajur) in large number, as it is the most preferred item by Muslims to break their fast.

40 students fall ill after eating hostel food in Karnataka's Hosapete

Section 144 has been imposed outside SC following the protest.
